Resolution in Honor of Marian Dunnick-Privett's Retirement

WHEREAS, the Associated Students of San Diego State University was incorporated as a California non-profit corporation on March 7, 1932. The purpose of the Associated Students of San Diego State University is to promote student intellectual, cultural, physical and social welfare, to maintain consistent and constructive procedures in all matters relating to student affairs, to provide an avenue for assisting students to achieve fuller participation in the life of the college community and to extend the influence and good name of our University everywhere, and
WHEREAS, the success of the Associated Students can be attributed, in large part, to the expertise of Associated Students staff working in collaboration with student leaders to provide programs, services and facilities such as the Children’s Center to the SDSU Community, and
WHEREAS, Marian Dunnick-Privett began her employment with the Associated Students of San Diego State University in August 1984 as the Infant/Toddler teacher in the Campus Program; then assumed the position of Campus Children’s Center Coordinator in January 1985 and in November 1990, was promoted to Manager of the Children’s Center, and
WHEREAS, Marian Dunnick-Privett has been of immeasurable service to the Associated Students, San Diego State University and the San Diego Child Development Community since she joined the staff, serving in numerous capacities, including guest lecturer in the SDSU Department of Child and Family Development, various positions with the San Diego, California and National Associations for the Education of Young Children; and a member of the County of San Diego Child Care Consortium where she developed many training and staff development programs for Early Childhood Educators., and
WHEREAS, Marian Dunnick-Privett’s contributions to the Associated Students of San Diego State University have received outstanding recognition including National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation for both the Campus and Faculty Staff Centers, and
WHEREAS, Marian Dunnick-Privett has been a longtime advocate for Early Childhood Education and Childcare at SDSU where she opened the new Faculty/Staff Children’s Center in 1994; mentored hundreds of Child Development students in their ECE careers; guided hundreds of parents in their quest to be excellent parents and complete their academic career; and, with the rest of the Children’s Center staff, developed the program statement that resulted in the new SDSU Children’s Center. Now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Associated Students of San Diego State University hereby offers its congratulations to you, Marian Dunnick-Privett on the occasion of your retirement and in appreciation for the many lasting contributions made during your 19 years of service to the Associated Students of San Diego State University, acknowledging that your hands have touched our hearts forever.
