VI. PRESENTATIONS AND UNIVERSITY REPORTS

    1. Dr. Taharka Ade, University Senate Designee, reported on the following: Reiterated that some University Senate committee seats are open, but most are currently in the appointment process which is wrapping up within the next week.
    2. Christine Molina, Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee - None.
    3. Enrollment Update - Stefan Hyman, Associate Vice President - SDSU Enrollment Services (Time Certain 3:50 p.m.), presented the following: SDSU has reached record enrollment levels in the consecutive years with 39,373 students admitted in Fall 2024. The school continues to meet increasing resident full-time equivalency (FTE) targets, which means at least 15 units in the fall and spring semesters. This year was a record size for a first year class with over 90,000 applicants. With the transfer class, this year was the 3rd largest in recorded history, just 10 students shy of the overall transfer target. SDSU is at a record high for 1st year retention, with record graduation rates (in 4 years) at an all-time high of 62.0%

VIII. INTRODUCTION OF NEW LEGISLATIVE MATTERS 

None.

IX. REPORTS OF UNIVERSITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

    1. College of Arts and Letters Student Council: Reviewed check requests and had a Native Resource Center presentation. They have a career fair in the works as well as still revamping their website and logo.
    2. College of Business Council: Dr. Manning held a discussion with them regarding general concerns and operations, and held a Student Success Fee presentation.
    3. College of Education Student Council: There will be an RSO collaboration on a Winter Fair on December 4th, 2024 and they are also working on a collaboration regarding single-subject credential programs with CAL and PSFA.
    4. College of Engineering Student Council: Voted on a new appointee to the A.S. Representative position. They are currently going through Engineering 101 sign-ups and have a speaker. Last week, they had a “Coffee with the Dean” event and Pumpkin Drop, which both were successful. 
    5. College of Health and Human Services: Planning a Unity Task Force event on November 1st, 2024, from 3:00p.m. - 5:00 p.m., and have professionals such as dieticians, pathologists, speech and language, and more speak. Also, they are in the process of changing their logo.
    6. College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts: They are having Dr. Chris Manning present and discuss operations with PSFA. They are also having a PSFA/Fowler mixed event and are updating their logo.
    7. College of Sciences Student Council: Currently conducting a T.A. Lab Discrepancy Survey, gauging student responses to tackle the discrepancy between labs and T.A. sessions. Aside, they had a Color-a-Smile event last week and it was successful, and are hosting an Alumni Panel on February 27th, 2025.

X. EXECUTIVE REPORTS

    1. Kat Hernandez, A.S. President: The Safety Town Hall will be on November 21st, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Montezuma Hall. Six departments are presenting and a Q&A will follow. She attended the Campus Safety Committee meeting yesterday and discussed the UPD Blue Envelope program, and set the meetings for once a month. She is having conversations with Dr. Chris Manning regarding follow-up processes with student incidents and how to be proactive in efforts to mitigate conflict. Aside, A.S. received an award for donating 6 million dollars in study abroad scholarships and she is working on initiatives with the A.S. DEI plan. She created a slide deck that displayed results of the student leader survey to present to the College of Vice Presidents, and she is giving a speech on November 19th, 2024 for the Guardian Scholars ribbon-cutting event.
    2. Tajuddin Henry, A.S. Executive Vice President: Taj emphasized that he is here to advocate for University Council member goals, and his 1-on-1s with Campus Life Council members have been going well. He encouraged student leaders to work on transition documents to smoothen position handoffs and increase visibility of the BCCs.
    3. Derrick Herrera, A.S. Vice President of External Relations - None.
    4. Vincent Lin, A.S. Vice President of Financial Affairs: Aztecs Rock Hunger was a success and he thanked everyone for their contributions. He detailed the allocation of A.S. Study Abroad Scholarships and how 363 were awarded this semester. 
    5. Trinity Dang, A.S. Vice President of University Affairs: Announced to schedule a 1-on-1 with her if anyone has not already. She also gave an opportunity to attend an Academic Deans meeting on January 8th at 9:30 a.m. if interested. In last week’s Ad-Hoc meeting, they appointed CLC vacancies. She will also be attending college council meetings to share her role and advocate for A.S.
    6. Christina Brown, A.S. Executive Director - None.

XI. BOARD OF DIRECTORS STUDENT-AT-LARGE REPORTS

    1. Nick Felix, Board of Directors Student-at-Large: Campus Safety Walk is on November 12th from 6- 8:30 p.m.
    2. Mohammed Erekat, Board of Directors Student-at-Large: Discussed student concerns regarding UPD policing of threats on campus.

XII. ANNOUNCEMENTS

    1. Adaptive Athletics is hosting a Lift-a-thon on November 16th.
    2. Nightmare in the Union is tonight from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
