I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Vice President of University Affairs Trinity Dang, called the meeting to order at 3:34 p.m.

VI. PRESENTATIONS AND UNIVERSITY REPORTS

    1. Dr. Taharka Ede, University Senate Designee, reported on the following: The University Senate most recently passed a challenging resolution regarding the Time, Place, Manner policy from California State University (CSU).
    2. Christine Molina, Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee, reported on the following: More recently, been analyzing the new student experience and their overall knowledge of the campus. Discussion around the proposal of individual advising meetings before and after New Student Orientation was brought forward. Also, a proposal was brought forward to allow transfer students to opt-in for a summer course catered towards transitioning into San Diego State University and provide resources. During the report, she offers a Q&A, and answered questions pertaining to SACD Connect which offers transition services and peer-to-peer support focused on undergraduate students, and the topic of the Transfer Admission Planner (TAP), catered towards assisting transfer students in understanding the courses they take/have taken outside of SDSU.

VII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

    2. General Consent Report (Information)
      The General Consent Report was reviewed. 
    3. California General Education Transfer Curriculum Presentation - Dr. Madhavi McCall, Associate Vice President, ASsessment & Accreditation (Time Certain 4:00 p.m.)
      Gave information pertaining to the California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC), a singular general education pathway for California Community Colleges (CCC).

IX. REPORTS OF UNIVERSITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

    1. College of Arts & Letters: Pursuing further collaboration for council affairs.
    2. College of Engineering Student Council: Holding an event this coming Saturday; hiking with Women in Construction. Another event planned moving forward is a bonfire social.
    3. College of Health & Human Services: Finalized Zoom meetings to Mondays at 12:00 p.m.
    4. College of Science: Held a successful council retreat and are in the process of planning College Council events with other colleges. They are also planning to present on Your Voice Matters next week.
    5. College of Professional Studies & Fine Arts: Appointed two executive positions recently.
    6. College of Education: Creating a shared calendar across the College Councils and Registered Student Organizations affiliated.
    7. Graduate Student Association: Graduate students are meeting with SDSU Imperial Valley students to work on collaborations in the near future; the first mixer they held was successful. The Graduate Student Advisory board also has a meeting on September 30th, 2024. The proposed Time, Place, Manner policies raised discussion and concerns in their previous meeting.

X. EXECUTIVE REPORTS

    1. Trinity Dang, A.S. Vice President of University Affairs: The next University Council meeting will be shorter as there will be a planned event directly after. She stated to let the University Council and her included know if there are any S.E.A. goals a member wants to support. The University Council will also be working with the Recreation and Wellness Commission and other partners from the library for mental health awareness. Finally, she promoted Banned Books Week and discussed University Affairs Board elections on the following day for Executive Board candidates.
    2. Katarina Hernandez, A.S. President: Accepting recommendations on catering for an upcoming event. The pilot has initiated for A.S. Slack, and she is meeting with Adela regarding Time, Place, Manner policy and the upcoming Lemonade with the President event.
    3. Taj Henry, A.S. Executive Vice President: Him and Palni, A.S. Chief of Staff, finished conducting FLEX interviews. Their programming with Homecoming is coming along and with their last meeting with the Aztec Student Union Board (ASUB), they discussed potential events with ASUB and Aztecs Rock Hunger (ARH).
    4. Vincent Lin, A.S. Vice President of Financial Affairs: ARH Leadership team toured the campus food bank. They have started planning fundraisers for the near future and for the Financial Affairs Committee, they had a meeting tour of the Aztec Recreation Center.
    5. Christina Brown, A.S. Executive Director: The next meeting will again be short, prior to an event at the University House. There is a safety update: The Safety Committee is under the Campus Community Commission and is meeting with important departments regarding a 3-year plan to improve campus lighting and discussing with the Senate Representative regarding the homelessness crisis and risk measures. 
    6. Nicholas Felix, Board of Directors Student-At-Large: Announcing Homecoming Court. In the following week, he will be doing a “takeover” on the @sdsuadmissions Instagram page. 

XI. ANNOUNCEMENTS

    1. Maya Gerassi: Promoting volunteer opportunities for Homecoming.
    2. Nick Felix: Promoting networking at the Dance Marathon event following the meeting in the evening.
    3. Noah Stuart: On Saturday, the Middle Eastern & North African club and the Latinx Student Union is holding a bonfire social at Ski Beach.
