I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Vice President of University Affairs, Sandy Mekany, called the meeting to order at 3:39 p.m. 

II. ROLL CALL

VI. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

  1. University Senate Designee Dr. Vasquez: No report. 
  2. University Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee,  Christine Molina, reported on the following:
    1. This year 725 attendees attended the SDSU Leadership Summit.  This included students from SDSU as well as students from other institutions.
    2. The first sophomore week of activities has been launched in efforts to support sophomore students.
  3. Academic Advising Presentation - Michelle Lopez, Senior Assistant Dean in Faculty Advancement & Student Success (FASS) and Christine Molina - Assistant Dean of Students for Co-Curricular Programs and Student Support (Time Certain 3:45 p.m.)
    1. Michelle Lopez and Christine Molina gave a presentation regarding the undergraduate and graduate models for academic and coordinated care advising. They stressed the importance of issues they are looking to mitigate such as undeclared students, students stuck in the pre-major status, and the lack of resources to support the large student population.

VIII. REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS 

  1. Sandy Mekany, Vice President of University Affairs:
    The University Affairs Board is working on a smaller scale event for the Your Voice Matters campaign. UAB is focusing on the intentionally behind Your Voice Matters and its advertising. 
  2. Shawki Moore, President:
    The last opportunity to submit a response to the alternative consultation survey is approaching. The Campus Fee Advisory Committee (CFAC) will be using these responses to gauge their basis for the recommendation to the University President. Shawki encouraged council members to reflect on their attendance and finish the year fulfilling the role they are holding. 
  3. Meena Alexander, Executive Vice President:
    It is currently the Mending Minds push week and they will be holding tabling as well as yoga classes. Meena encouraged the council members to nominate themselves, faculty, or other students for the Aztec Achievement Awards.
  4. Robson Winter, Vice President of External Relations:
    The California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS) is this weekend and the delegates along with Robson will be heading to Sacramento on Friday evening. 
  5. Sophia Koch, Vice President of Financial Affairs:
    The Financial Affairs Committee is reviewing two policies for recognized student organization funding regarding graduation sashes and stoles as well as the limit on food spending. 
  6. Christina Brown, Executive Director: No report. 
  7. Ava Walker, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  8. Brandon Bartosh, ASBOD Student-At-Large:
    The Board of Directors have approved the proposed amendments to the A.S. elections bylaws.
  9. Grace DeVega, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  10. College of Arts and Letters: 
    The College of Arts and Letters was able to meet the interim dean at their last council meeting. CAL also reviewed the bylaws of the College of Arts and Letters as well as formed a Bylaws Committee.
  11.  College of Business: 
    The College of Business Council sent out an interest form to council members of CBC regarding executive positions next semester. 
  12. College of Education:
    Elections for the COESC will be held on 4/10/23 and the council will be holding an informational meeting at their next council meeting on 3/13. There will be a CPR training on 3/11 held by  COESC, the certification is recognized for two years. Kailey Quezada sat on the Freedom of Expression Senate Committee meeting where they experienced being pushed back from administration to reverse current bylaws. 
  13. College of Engineering: 
    Engineering Week was last week and was massively successful. The College of Engineering Student Council will be looking at executive elections because many of the current board members are graduating. 
  14. College of Health and Human Services:
    Currently CHHS is promoting a student success fee event which will be next Friday in the student union theater which is focusing on the health and human services and strategies of how to be more equitable in school and professional careers. 
  15. College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts:
    Donuts with the Dean will be held on 3/6 at 11 a.m.
  16. College of Sciences:
    CSSC will hold a community service event on Saturday where they will be removing native plants from a canyon and planting new ones. On 3/23 there will be another community service event where CSSC will make hygiene kits for the homeless populations. On 3/13 there will be a DEI town hall in the student union. 
  17. Graduate Student Association: No report. 
  18. Undeclared College: No report. 

IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS 

Kailey Quezada: The mental health event COESC held was very successful and many A.S. leaders attended and showed support. 

X. ADJOURNMENT
