I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Vice President of University Affairs, Sandy Mekany, called the meeting to order at 3:34 p.m. 

II. ROLL CALL 

A. VI. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

A. University Senate Designee: No report.
B. University Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee, Christine Molina reported on the following:

  • Aztec Nights’ Midnight Study Break event will occur next Friday. 

C. Student Grievance Procedure - Dr. Joanna Brooks, Associate Vice President, Faculty Advancement & Student Success (Time Certain 3:45 p.m.)

  • Dr. Brooks gave a brief introduction of herself.
  • The current student grievance process and proposed changes to the process was reviewed.  
  • Council members offered feedback on the topic of possible revisions and Dr. Brooks recommended students refer to the Student Success Help Desk. 

VII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

A. General Consent Agenda (Action):
It was moved and seconded to approve the general consent agenda.

VIII. REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS

A. Sandy Mekany, Vice President of University Affairs:

  • Thanked everyone who came to the Campus Safety Town Hall.
  • The Your Voice Matters push week went well and thank you to everyone who helped. 

B. Shawki Moore, President: No report. 
C. Meena Alexander, Executive Vice President: No report. 
D. Robson Winter, Vice President of External Relations:

  • ERB is working on advocating for DACA students through a posted statement. 

E. Sophia Koch, Vice President of Financial Affairs: No report. 
F. Christina Brown, Executive Director:

  • On 12/8 from 12:30-2 p.m. University House is hosting a holiday lunch. 
  • Next Wednesday is the final A.S. All Council meeting in Council Chambers at 3:30 p.m..
  • The fee for mandatory healthcare on all graduate students Spring 2023 tuition must be opted out of by 1/31/23 to not be charged.

G. Ava Walker, ASBOD Student-At-Large:

  • The Children's Center amended their bylaws and ASBOD approved them. 
  • The Shared Governance resolution was also approved by ASBOD. 

H. Brandon Bartosh, ASBOD Student-At-Large:

  • Gave a brief explanation of the 2022-2023 rebudget that ASBOD was presented. 
  • Shared the ASBOD conversation about DACA students. 

I. Grace DeVega, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
J. College of Arts and Letters:

  • Today was the CAL elections for the VP of Community Engagement, they had five people run for the position and the winner will be announced at the next UC meeting.  

K. College of Business: No report. 
L. College of Education:

  • There will be a toy drive in collaboration with the Tijuana Home Build. 

M. College of Engineering: No report. 
N. College of Health and Human Services:

  • CHHS will be offering extra advising hours for students during the spring 2023 registration period. 
  • Most recent community service event was writing letters to veterans. 

O. College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts:

  • PSFA is planning a studying event with the Undeclared College Council for next week. 

P. College of Sciences:

  • The first meeting for the lab coat initiative is this Friday. 
  • They recently received a significant award of 25,000 dollars that will be dispersed across multiple initiatives. 
  • They are hosting a pre-finals distressing event next Friday from 5-7 p.m.  

Q. Graduate Student Association: No report. 
R. Undeclared College:

  • The SFF proposal was approved and the council will be traveling to Las Vegas for a student diversity conference in April. 
  • UCC is hosting a final study night in collaboration with PSFA. 

IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS

A. Beth announced to please see Janice Dils email for logistics regarding Dave and Buster’s tonight. 
B. Malia announced that Dance Marathon is playing Elf in the theater next Friday to help fundraise. 
C. Sandy announced that on Sunday there is a joint concert at 7 p.m. for Soundwave and Sirens where Brandon and Sandy will perform. 

X. ADJOURNMENT
