I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Vice President of University Affairs, Sandy Mekany, called the meeting to order at 3:33 p.m. 

II. ROLL CALL

III. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

It was moved and seconded to approve the agenda for today’s meeting.

VI. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

University Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee, Christine Molina:

  • The Center for Commuter Life has registration workshops that are ongoing this week, which helps students walk through the functionality of new class schedules and how to use other functions on my.SDSU. There are also two new staff advisors joining the Center for Commuter Life.
  • There is an Aztec Core Leadership Retreat this weekend, 10/21-10/24, at the Glaser Center for Leadership.
  • The Student Success Fee deadline is this Monday, 10/24.

A. General Consent Agenda (Action):
It was moved and seconded to approve the general consent agenda, as attached.

C. College Council Event Calendar (Information)

  • College Council members were able to fill out a spreadsheet listing all the upcoming events their individual college councils are hosting. 

VIII. INTRODUCTION OF NEW LEGISLATIVE MATTERS

#UCB F22-01 A Resolution to affirm Commitment to Shared Governance (2nd reading) (Information):

  • Shawki Moore presented the second reading of #UCB F22-01 which is a resolution that affirms Associated Students commitment to shared governance, within the second reading council members reviewed the resolution and were able to offer feedback.         

IX. REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS

A. Sandy Mekany, Vice President of University Affairs:

  • The Your Voice Matters push week is November 14-18, the leadership team for push week has been elected, and some professors are requesting YVM presentations during lectures.
  • In regards to safety Sandy is working to resolve safety concerns after an influx of Your Voice Matters submissions regarding campus safety. Chief Murphy will be attending the next UC meeting to talk about the A.S. Campus Safety Meeting.
  • Sandy met with Dean Walter, Dean of the Library, Dean Walter would like to present to A.S. the new collections in the Love Library. Dean Walter is also looking into students' awareness of the resources available to them in the library and would like to create more visibility of said resources. 

Shawki Moore, President:

  • Shawki thanked everyone for attending the October 7th event.
  • The CCC Safety Committee will be returning and will occur within CCC from 2-3 pm.m on Wednesday’s biweekly.
  • San Diego State University’s President has started a Graduate Support and Advisory committee, Shawki, the GSA President, and GSA representative will be sitting in on this committee. 

Meena Alexander, Executive Vice President: No report. 
Robson Winter, Vice President of External Relations:

  • Robson encouraged council members to register to vote, and to also update your address if needed.
  • On October 26th there will be a presentation on city safety policies at Scripps Cottage. 

Sophia Koch, Vice President of Financial Affairs:

  • Aztecs Rock Hunger started on Friday, Sophia would appreciate creative ideas for ways to raise money. 

Christina Brown, Executive Director:

  • The University Budget Town Hall will occur tomorrow, the meeting invite was administered through email on October 10th. 

Ava Walker, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
Brandon Bartosh, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
Grace DeVega, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report.

College of Arts and Letters:

  • Coffee with CAL will occur tomorrow.
    There was an implicit bias training that happened today in the CAL council meeting.

College of Business:

  • The next CBC meeting will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
  • CBC is in the early planning stages of a number of events.

College of Education:

  • There was a council meeting for COESC.
  • COESC has collected a rough draft of the College Council Survey, where Your Voice Matters was linked onto the survey.
  • COESC has discussions on issues that they will be presenting to the Dean.
  • There is an upcoming Tijuana Home Build collaboration.

College of Engineering:

  • The pumpkin drop is upcoming.

College of Health and Human Services:

  • There will be a Good Neighbor clean up this weekend in collaboration with CCC and College of Sciences.

College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts:

  • PSFA engaged with CAL today on implicit bias training.
  • It is PSFA’s advising month, they featured advisors in their last college council meeting and they are offering drop-in advising meetings in PSFA study spaces. 

College of Sciences:

  • The CSSC has a great tabling event with good turnout from other organizations on campus.
  • They will also be taking part in the Good Neighbor clean up that is a collaboration with CCC and CHHS.
  • The CSSC has a vacancy for VP of Community Service position within their council.  

Graduate Student Association: No report. 
Undeclared College: No report. 

X. ANNOUNCEMENTS

A. Colin Ro: There was an IT meeting where publishers pulled 3,000 E-books from Proquest, this was done because Proquest wanted to create its own prescription services. 
B. Victor Plunkett: The San Diego Padres won their recent game 8-5. 

XI. ADJOURNMENT
