I.  CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Vice President of University Affairs, Jennifer Schenkenfelder, called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m.

  1. Natasha Bliss from SDSU Research and Innovation made a public comment about the upcoming Student Research Symposium in the Union.  

VI.  PRESENTATIONS AND UNIVERSITY REPORTS

  1. University Senate Designee: None.
  2. University Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee: Christine Molina reported on the following:
    1. Aztec Core Retreat applications are open.  The retreat will be held from May 17-19.  
    2. Provided an SDSU Coordinated Care Advisor update.

IX.  REPORTS OF UNIVERSITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Jennifer Schenkenfelder, Vice President of University Affairs:  Met with the Provost on Friday.  Ashley and I will be attending the College Deans meeting. Spoke with College Council Presidents regarding a transition document(s) for the next academic year.  First day registration is April 18.  AAC will be collaborating with CCC for a community clean up on March 20 at 12 p.m.  If you are interested in research, please contact me.  Thank you for being amazing leaders!
  2. Ashley Tejada, President:  Met with Dr. Wood.  Provided an update regarding the Graduate Life and Diversity Center.  Final approval will be at the A.S. Board of Directors meeting this coming Monday.  There will be a new brand of San Diego State University – the unveiling of the new brand will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Aztec Student Union during the SDSU 125th anniversary celebration.  Met with Dean Tracy Love in Graduate Studies.  Provided a University Senate Committee regarding the land acknowledgement in the class syllabi and a resolution on shared governance on academic-related gifts.  
  3. Karina Esteban, Executive Vice President: No report.
  4. Shawki Moore, Vice President of External Relations: California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS) interviews are this Friday.  Provided CSSA updates regarding standardized testing.
  5. Austin Barber, Vice President of Financial Affairs:  Provided an update regarding mysdsu instead of SDSU WebPortal.  Students will be able to pay tuition after they have registered for classes.  In FAC, working on A.S. funding promotion.  Reviewing cultural organizations’ budgets to set them for the next academic year.
  6. Christina Brown, Executive Director: A.S. elections application deadline is at 4 p.m. this Friday.  Please encourage your Colleges to apply!
  7. Beth Bridges, ASBOD Student-At-Large:  No report.
  8. Alexia Oduro, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report.
  9. Margot Ermer, ASBOD Student-At-Large:  It is Women’s History Month!  Congratulations to the Women’s Swim Team.
  10. College of Arts and Letters (CAL) Council: Planning an advising event with board games.  Planning for another event to include collaboration with PSFA, Education and Undeclared in mid/late April.  Promoting a new discord.  VP of Financial Affairs elections will be tomorrow.  
  11. Fowler College of Business Council: CBC Social is on 5/15 in Templo Mayor from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.   Business Achievement Award applications are open.  Amanda Beard and Halima Hayden will be presenting.  New student organization funding process at the CBC is going well.  
  12. College of Education Student Council:  Collaborating with other colleges for an event.   Invited Education RSOs to the COESC meetings.  New meeting times: 1st and 3rd Friday in Lamden Hall.
  13. College of Engineering Student Council: Engineering Week went great! 
  14. College of Health and Human Services Student Council (CHHSCC):  Volunteering at the Food Bank and working on RSO Spotlights on Instagram.  Aztec Adaptive Sports had a successful paralympic event.  There is a Ted Talk RSO and will be holding an event on May 17.
  15. College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts (PSFA) Student Council: None.
  16. College of Sciences Student Council (CSSC):  Planning a bowling social with the executive board.  The College Deans visited the meeting today for Donuts with the Dean.  Talked about involvement on the Council and with research.  
  17. Graduate Student Association (GSA): No report. 
  18. Undeclared College Council (UCC): Having our final meeting regarding the SSF plans regarding the trip.  Collaborating with other colleges.  Will promote at General Studies classes.

X.  ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Noemi announced that the PSFA Academic Resource Center (PARC) is located in PSFA 200.  Come visit!  We have snacks and scantrons.
  2. Angelo announced that Adaptive Athletics will be having a Volleyball game in Montezuma Hall.
  3. Roxane announced that there is a Noah Hykten Memorial Fund basketball tournament in April.
  4. Alondra announced that there is a headshot event by the PSFA Council tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.  Bring canned food.
