I.  CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Vice President of University Affairs, Jennifer Schenkenfelder, called the meeting to order at 3:32 p.m. via Zoom.

II.  ROLL CALL

VI.  PRESENTATIONS AND UNIVERSITY REPORTS

  1. University Senate Designee: Dr. Nola Butler-Byrd reported on the following: 
    1. I hope you all are doing well during this virtual pause.
    2. Provided an update regarding Interdisciplinary Studies and the impact that it has on students.  Welcome to feedback from the A.S. Leaders regarding this topic.
    3. There will be University Senate Town Hall regarding tenure and everything you will need to know about faculty and staff.  We will have a representative from the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) attending.
  2. University Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee: Christine Molina reported on the following:
    1. The SDSU Leadership Summit, annual conference sponsored by the Glazer Leadership Center, is on February 19.  There is still space available if you are interested.  
    2. Quest for the Best applications are currently open until February 14.
      Student Success Fee proposals open on February 14 and will close on March 25.  There will be a review process.  If you are interested in sitting on the review committee, please let me know.
  3. Course Waitlist Policy Changes Presentation – Stefan Hyman, Associate Vice President of Enrollment  (Time Certain 3:45 p.m.)
    Dr. Stephen Hyman provided an overview of SDSU course waitlist history and changes to policies for the 2022-2023.

VIII.  INTRODUCTION OF NEW LEGISLATIVE MATTERS - None.

IX.  REPORTS OF UNIVERSITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Jennifer Schenkenfelder, Vice President of University Affairs: Provided the following updates:  Your Voice Matters (YVM) push week is this week. The video is available to share with all of your friends. 
  2. Ashley Tejada, President:  Provided the following updates:  Mission Valley Student Committee had their first meeting last Friday to visit the site.  A.S. election applications are now available for request.  I encourage you to continue your journey.  SDSU Sports Clubs will start on February 7.  The alternative consultation process for the ATS Fee is happening.  If you are part of an organization who would like to host a forum, please reach out.
  3. Karina Esteban, Executive Vice President:  Provided the following updates: Vacancy Ad-Hoc Committee meetings are occurring to fill the Student Diversity Commissioner Representative and Commissioner, Elections Coordinator, and Justice.  Aztec Achievement Awards planning is currently underway.  If you have any questions, please let me know if you would like to be involved in the Awards Committee.
  4. Shawki Moore, Vice President of External Relations: Provided the following updates:  California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS) applications are available and it is a great opportunity to advocate for your fellow students.  The application link is in the Instagram bio.  The Secretary of State, Dr. Shirley Weber, will be coming to San Diego for a Voter Rights panel in the Union Theatre on February 8.  
  5. Austin Barber, Vice President of Financial Affairs:  Provided the following updates:  We have travel funds available for RSOs and College Councils.  We have Campus Program Funding (CPF) for their RSO event.  Please reach out if you have any questions about A.S. funding.
  6. Christina Brown, Executive Director: Provided the following updates:  We are here to support you all.  I would like to shout out to the Graduate Student Association (GSA) for the projects they are working on.  Please spread the word to your Colleges if you all have graduate representatives.
  7. Beth Bridges, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report.
  8. Alexia Oduro, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report.
  9. Margot Ermer, ASBOD Student-At-Large: Apply for Quest of the Best.
  10. College of Arts and Letters (CAL) Council: Shared the CAL Council goals which includes to hold more events, increase engagement, and promote a greater sense of community.  Had CAL’s first advising event.  
  11. Fowler College of Business Council: Shared CBC goals which include hosting more CBC events, engaging with Business students for feedback, and attending more Business RSO events to show support.  The Business Org Expo on 2/8 is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will have tacos.
  12. College of Education Student Council: Shared the COESC goals, which include keeping the Education student organizations engaged, seeking more student involvement within the Council, to plan the events with Deans and Advisors with students.  Tomorrow is the first COESC meeting in the evening.
  13. College of Engineering Student Council: Shared the CESC goals, which include help with career success for Engineering students, create social opportunities for students via discord and other areas, to get students more involved with student government and RSO meetings.  Engineering Week is coming up!  The Engineering Org Expo is 1-2 p.m at the North Library Walkway.
  14. College of Health and Human Services Student Council (CHHSCC):  Shared the CHHSCC goals, to include collaborating with resource centers and colleges, would like to have community service opportunities, and expand social media presence.  We will be having a student organization fair on February 17.  
  15. College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts (PSFA) Student Council: Shared the PSFA Council goals, which include hosting a successful Student Success Fee (SSF) event, to increase student organization involvement.  We have our first PSFA Council meeting tomorrow and are working to fill the representative seats.
  16. College of Sciences Student Council (CSSC): Shared the CSSC goals, which include creating more opportunities for students to be involved in Sciences, facilitating conversations with faculty regarding academic issues.  We are having a club fair with HHS.  We are planning a faculty network event on March 9 in Montezuma Hall.  We will have a beach clean up planned on April 5.  
  17. Graduate Student Association (GSA): No report. 
  18. Undeclared College Council (UCC): Shared the UCC goals, which include to have a bigger social media presence, to meet with advisors more, collaborate with other Colleges in terms of Expos.  First meeting is tomorrow at 9 a.m.

X.  ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Dance Marathon is February 25-26 in Montezuma Hall.  Please donate on behalf of Associated Students and to help benefit Rady Children’s Hospital.  
  2. Please come out and support SDSU Athletics, especially the basketball team.
