I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Vice President of University Affairs, Jennifer Schenkenfelder, called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.

VII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action):
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda.

  2. General Consent Report (Information):
    The General Consent Report was reviewed.
  3. Native American Heritage Month (Information):
    Jacob Alvarado Waipuk, SDSU Tribal Liaison, presented on the importance of the Kumeyaay land acknowledgement and provided information regarding Kumeyaay history.  
  4. Course Waitlist Updates (Information):
    Jennifer provided an update on course waitlists for spring 2022 semester.
  5. Member Highlight Award Nominations Discussion (Information):
    Jennifer led a discussion about UC member highlight award nominations.  The results of the nominations will be at the last UC meeting on December 1.

IX. REPORTS OF UNIVERSITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Jennifer Schenkenfelder, Vice President of University Affairs: College Council Retreat was a success. Please remember to complete the faculty evaluation form at the end of the semester.  Met with Provost Ochoa regarding course availability and Saturday exams.  Your Voice Matters (YVM) is a year-long initiative.  Planning a spring YVM push week.
  2. Ashley Tejada, President:  Aztec Recreation (ARC) ribbon cutting was this morning. Working on ‘Year of Community’ promotions. Attended Senate Executive Committee and Honorary Degree meetings.  Working with the Graduate Student Association.
  3. Karina Esteban, Executive Vice President: Your Mental Health Matters Week is from Nov 29- Dec. 3.  Planning next year’s Homecoming week. 
  4. Shawki Moore, Vice President of External Relations: RTV Civic Engagement event: ‘Cocoa and Conversation’ in collaboration with the ACLU, NAACP San Diego chapters on Dec. 2, 2:30-3:30 p.m.   
  5. Austin Barber, Vice President of Financial Affairs: Aztecs Rock Hunger (ARH) announcement is on Dec. 6. Thank you for all the support and engagement on this project.  FAC approved the A.S. consolidated budget.
  6. Christina Brown, Executive Director: The End of Semester event at the University House is Nov. 29, 2-4pm. There will be both UC and CLC meetings on Dec. 1.  Dec. 8 will be the final All Council meeting of the semester. Kudos to all the hard work this semester!
  7. Beth Bridges, ASBOD Student-At-Large: Provided VAR training at All Council. There will be a video project for Your Mental Health Matters. Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is this week.  Student Support Commission is working on updates to the SDSU Resource guide.  Dec. 2 will be the second ‘A.S. Monthly Minute’ on Instagram. A.S. groups can submit their events on the Google form to be featured.
  8. Alexia Oduro, ASBOD Student-At-Large: The A.S. accommodation form is on the A.S. website.  Working on impact protocol.  There is a restorative justice event on Nov. 30.  
  9. Margot Ermer, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  10. College of Arts and Letters (CAL) Council:  Collaborating with PSFA and College of Education on a spring event. Will be meeting with Dean Casper. 
  11. Fowler College of Business Council:  Presentation on job opportunity at Northwestern.  Elected 2 new representatives for next semester. 
  12. College of Education Student Council: Created a new Instagram and will hold a toy drive soon. 
  13. College of Engineering Student Council: ‘Coffee with The Deans’ event went well. Collaborating with Green Love (e-waste recycling event).
  14. College of Health and Human Services Student Council (CHHSCC): Will be taking headshots, will have a potluck for their next meeting. Will use their allocated funds by Dec. 10. Collaboration with the College of Sciences for the club fair on Feb. 15.  
  15. College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts (PSFA) Student Council: ‘Donuts with The Dean’ will be soon.  The Student Success Fee (SSF) proposal has been approved and PSFA alumni are scheduled to speak on March 11-12. 
  16. College of Sciences Student Council (CSSC): Assistant Deans visited the CSSC meeting today.  Community service project scheduled for Nov. 29. 
  17. Graduate Student Association (GSA): No report. 
  18. Undeclared College Council (UCC): SDSU Ambassadors looking to find new recruits.

X. ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Dance Marathon Push Day is today!  The Dance Marathon is on Feb. 25.
