I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Vice President of University Affairs, Jennifer Schenkenfelder, called the meeting to order at 3:32 p.m.

VI. PRESENTATIONS AND UNIVERSITY REPORTS

  1. University Senate Designee, Dr. Nola Butler-Byrd: Dr. Nola Butler-Byrd reported on the following:
    1. The University Senate is currently looking to update the Senate Policy File.
    2. Started a discussion with the student leaders and asked how things are going in the classroom.  
  2. University Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee, Christine Molina:  No report.
  3. University Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee, Dean Randy Timm:  Dr. Randy Timm provided an introduction as Dean of Students and his roles at the University.
  4. Economic Crisis Response Team (ECRT) Presentation - Chelsea Payne, ECRT Associate Director and Dustin Adkins, ECRT Resource Coordination Assistant (Time Certain 3:45 p.m.):
    Chelsea Payne and Dustin Adkins presented the resources that ECRT provides, highlighting the ECRT Tool Kit for student leaders, faculty, staff and administrators to use as a resource for students who are experiencing an economic crisis.

    Ava Grell and Mayah Taylor of the Student Support Commission informed the Council about the A.S. food pantry in the student union.

    Austin presented about the upcoming Aztecs Rock Hunger campaign.  

VII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action):
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda, which includes the External Relations Board and Graduate Student Association meeting minutes.

  3. Your Voice Matters (YVM) Debrief:
    Jennifer thanked for all the walkarounds everyone did for Your Voice Matters push-week.

IX. REPORTS OF UNIVERSITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Jennifer Schenkenfelder, Vice President of University Affairs: Scheduling 1:1 meetings with all of the UC members. UC requirements are due on October 22.  Olivia Li is helping with College Council websites.  Save the date for 11/14, the day after Homecoming.
  2. Ashley Tejada, President:  Attended the Activity 8/13 Revenue planning meeting and Graduate Student Insurance Town Hall meeting.  Meeting with Dr. Andrea Dooley, Dr. Jennifer Rikard, and Karina regarding mental health initiatives.  
  3. Karina Esteban, Executive Vice President: Working mental health initiatives with Counseling & Psychological Services and Ashley.  The Homecoming Royal applications close on 11/18 at 12 p.m.  
  4. Shawki Moore, Vice President of External Relations: California State Student Association (CSSA) Plenary is this weekend.  If anyone wants to attend, please let me know.  The Assembly Bill (AB) 1456 letter was approved at the A.S. Board of Directors meeting and have been sent to the Governor.  A.S. social media continues to thrive as the A.S. account hit over 6K and we are highlighting Filipinx History Month.  
  5. Austin Barber, Vice President of Financial Affairs: Aztecs Rock Hunger (ARH) food drive is from 10/22-11/14.  Had an ARH partner meeting and it went well.  The ARH Kick Off event is on 10/25 at 9:00 a.m.  
  6. Christina Brown, Executive Director:  The new Aztec Recreation Center (ARC) received the temporary occupancy permit.  Hopefully we will get to tour the new ARC soon.  
  7. Beth Bridges, ASBOD Student-At-Large:  Want to ensure that all the members are reviewing the ECRT Tool Kit and a reminder to be engaged in conversations.  MarComm is tabling to promote BCCs and Associated Students in general.
  8. Alexia Oduro, ASBOD Student-At-Large: The accommodation form with the Student Ability Success Center is almost complete in hopes to have it ready by the next meeting.  Working Dr. Aniesha Mitchell.
  9. Margot Ermer, ASBOD Student-At-Large: Working on a survey at the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Committee.  
  10. College of Arts and Letters (CAL) Council:  We have a new UC representative.  Tomorrow, we will have elections for the new student representative.  
  11. Fowler College of Business Council:  We will be having a social on 10/27 in Templo Mayor.  A Cintas or Amazon representative will be speaking to organization presidents.  Working with the Lavin Entrepreneur Center.
  12. College of Education Student Council: We are tabling on 10/19 with PSFA and will be having a resource fair.
  13. College of Engineering Student Council:  We had a record number of students attending the Coffee of the Dean event.  We will have the Pumpkin Drop on 10/26, UC representative elections on 10/14, and a college fair on 11/14.
  14. College of Health and Human Services Student Council: Holding programming workshops for the Student Success Fee applications.  
  15. College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts (PSFA) Student Council: Looking to fill the UC representative positions tomorrow and we will host the Dean Peggy Shannon at the next meeting.
  16. College of Sciences Student Council (CSSC): There is a town hall meeting on 10/20 regarding diversity, equity and inclusion from 1-2 p.m. in Park Boulevard.  There is a club fair at the end of October.  We have two new RSOs joining Sciences and the All-Council Retreat will occur soon.  We are having committee meetings and working to get more graduate students involved.
  17. Graduate Student Association (GSA): No report.
  18. Undeclared College Council (UCC): We filled positions on the UCC executive board and had brown bag lunches with UCC advisors at Scripps Cottage.
