Vice President of University Affairs Ronnie Cravens called the meeting to order at 3:40 PM.

VII. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

  1. University Senate Designee, Dr. Cezar Ornatowski: No report.
  2. University Vice President for Student Affairs Designee, Dr. Andrea Dooley:
    1. Met with Calpulli directors and expressed their gratefulness for Mental Health Week.
    2. Reminded members to get the second dose of the Meningitis B Vaccinations. The last pop-up clinic will be on May 2 in the Courtyard.

VIII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action):
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda.

  2. General Consent Report (Information): The general consent report was reviewed via electronic copy. For further reference please request a printed copy of the General Consent Report copy from the Government Secretary.
  3. Transition Documents (Information): Chris Thomas reviewed the transition documents for next year’s student leaders. Please complete and turn in the documents by Monday at 4 pm.

IX. INTRODUCTION OF NEW LEGISLATIVE MATTERS

  1. #UCB S19-01 A Resolution on Further Commitment to Fighting Food Insecurity and Establishing a Swipe Out Hunger Program at SDSU (Action) (Time Certain 4:00 pm): Dustin Adkins and Noah Winne, Student Support Commissioner and Representative, explained the resolution on fighting food insecurity and current services offered on campus.

    It was moved and seconded to open action to vote on A Resolution on Further Commitment to Fighting Food Insecurity and Establishing a Swipe Out Hunger Program at SDSU.
    WOHLMAN/ESTRADA        CARRIED
    There was a friendly amendment to change the name of the resolution to A Resolution on Further Commitment to Fighting Food Insecurity and Establishing a Meal Sharing Program at SDSU. There were no objections.
    THOMAS/ONWUKA          CARRIED
    There was a friendly amendment to change the wording of the resolution to include “especially to underserved student populations” in line 78 of the resolution. There were no objections.
    POWELL/THOMAS     CARRIED
    The resolution was approved as amended.
    WIAFE/THOMAS      CARRIED

X. REPORTS OF UNIVERSITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Ronnie Cravens, Vice President of University Affairs:
    1. “Clash of the Colleges” will take place on May 3 from 11:30 am-2 pm in the Tula Community Center.
    2. Expressed his gratitude for his time as the Vice President of University Affairs.
  2. Chris Thomas, President: 
    1. Reminded members to submit their transition documents by Monday at 4 pm.
    2. The last meeting will be on May 1 at 3:30 pm. President Adela de la Torre will swear in Christian Onwuka as A.S. President at 5 pm.
    3. Gave an update on the University Strategic Planning Consultant, Ameritas, focus group with the Board of Directors on Monday.
    4. Thanked members for their work this year.
  3. Nickolas Wohlman, Executive Vice President: 
    1. Aztec Achievement Awards will take place tomorrow at 5 pm.
    2. Mental Health Week was a great time.
  4. Michael Wiafe, Vice President of External Relations:
    1. Congratulations to Armando Sepulveda on his position as the Lobby Corps. Chair!
    2. Gave an update on legislative bill AB930.
  5. Christian Onwuka, Vice President of Financial Affairs:
    1. Completed budget adjustments. He met with Carlos to discuss financial changes for college council budgets to include food and awards for members. The Campus Program Funding will now allow for $1,000 to be allocated for food.
  6. Christina Brown, Executive Director:
    1. Grateful for A.S. leaders!
    2. Reminded members that last meeting will be next Wednesday, May 1 at 3:30 pm.
  7. Tomi Osinfolarin, ASBOD Student-at-Large:
    1. Expressed his gratefulness for his time at A.S. and encouraged members to continue to serve the community. He expressed his gratefulness for faculty, executive board members, and staff.
  8. Latrel Powell, ASBOD Student-at-Large:
    1. Gave an update on the California State Student Association (CSSA) plenary and reminded members to connect with the communities they are representing.
    2. Graduation is three weeks away! Congratulations to Latrel on receiving the Outstanding Graduate Award for the College of Arts and Letters, Political Science Department, and Africana Studies Department.
    3. Expressed his gratefulness for his time at SDSU.
  9. Warsan Artan, ASBOD Student-at-Large: None.
  10. College of Arts and Letters:
    1. CSSA applications are due on May 3.
    2. Political Science Professor Maher would like to collaborate with Associated Students on an event next Fall.
  11. College of Business:
    1. Congratulations to Evan Atkin and Noah Winne on their Vice President positions in the College of Business executive board!
  12. College of Education:
    1. None.
  13. College of Engineering:
    1. Gave an update on their committees.
  14. College of Health and Human Services:
    1. None.
  15. College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts:
    1. None.
  16. College of Sciences:
    1. “Tie Dye” with the Dean will be next Wednesday, May 1.
    2. The A.S. Open Forum will take place next Monday from 11 am – 12 pm.
  17. Graduate Student Association:
    1. None.
  18. Undeclared College:
    1. Congratulations to Olivia Dawson on her position as President of the College of Undeclared!
