Vice President of University Affairs Ronnie Cravens called the meeting to order at 3:35 PM.

VII. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

  1. University Senate Designee, Dr. Cezar Ornatowski:
    1. Attended a University Senate meeting on March 13-14 on financial aid and food insecurity.
    2. Gave an update on the General Education requirements. There is a legislative bill to not allow General Education courses to double count.
  2. University Vice President for Student Affairs Designee, Dr. Andrea Dooley:
    1. Congratulations to all graduates!
  3. California Legislative Update March 2019 – Michael Wiafe, A.S. Vice President of External Relations: Michael gave an update on the current bills in the senate which include bills regarding higher education, fixing financial aid, basic needs, and student life.

VIII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action):
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda.

  2. General Consent Report (Information): The general consent report was reviewed via electronic copy. For further reference please request a printed copy of the General Consent Report copy from the Government Secretary.

IX. INTRODUCTION OF NEW LEGISLATIVE MATTERS

None.

X. REPORTS OF UNIVERSITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Ronnie Cravens, Vice President of University Affairs:
    1. “Clash of the Colleges” will take place on May 3 from 11:30 am-2 pm in the Tula Community Center.
    2. There were walkarounds for the “Your Voice Matters” campaign.
    3. There will be an event during Mental Health Week on Tuesday, April 16 with a panel to present student resources.
    4. Met with the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  2. Chris Thomas, President: None.
  3. Nickolas Wohlman, Executive Vice President: 
    1. “Take Back the Week” will take place April 8-12. The #NotSilentBecause event will take place Tuesday, April 9 from 5-7 pm in the Student Union Theatre.
    2. There will be a discussion on the Sophomore Success Program on April 10 at the Campus Life Council meeting.
    3. Aztec Achievement Awards (AAA) will take place on Thursday, April 25 from 5-7 in Montezuma Hall. Be sure to RSVP!
    4. Mental Health Week events are finalized.
  4. Michael Wiafe, Vice President of External Relations:
    1. There was a mural unveiled during Explore SDSU at the ENS Quad.
    2. There are currently CSU Representatives and advocates for the CSU with legislators in D.C. including Chris Thomas and President de la Torre.
    3. Gave an update on the Data Analytics Team.
  5. Christian Onwuka, Vice President of Financial Affairs:
    1. Money is where it is supposed to be.
    2. Gave budget presentations.
    3. The travel fund available through Associated Students has been increased from $700 to $900. The high school conference fund will receive $5,000 more. The food allowance with the Campus Program Funding (CPF) will be increased from $600 to $1,000.
  6. Christina Brown, Executive Director:
    1. Attended the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NAPSA) national conference.
    2. The Swipe Out Hunger resolution is being discussed at Student Support Commission.
  7. Tomi Osinfolarin, ASBOD Student-at-Large:
    1. Gave an update on the Student Media Advisory Committee. Congratulations to KCR General Manager Adhmad Dixon and Daily Aztec Editor-in-Chief Bella Ross for 2019-2020!
    2. Asked for suggestions to improve Gradfest for next year.
  8. Latrel Powell, ASBOD Student-at-Large:
    1. Met with members from California Competes to gather a student voice.
    2. Congratulations to Tomi and Latrel for being selected for Quest for the Best!
  9. Warsan Artan, ASBOD Student-at-Large:
    1. The women-only fitness class in the ARC had their first class.
    2. There will be a lunch and dinner on April 10 to appreciate the custodial workers in all Associated Students facilities.
  10. College of Arts and Letters:
    1. None.
  11. College of Business:
    1. Planning for the Business Achievement Awards.
  12. College of Education:
    1. There is a search for the Associate Dean for Diversity and Internal Affairs.
  13. College of Engineering:
    1. Giving away graduation stoles to students involved in the College of Engineering.
    2. Monte’s Ping Pong Tournament will take place on April 16.
  14. College of Health and Human Services:
    1. None.
  15. College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts:
    1. There will be nominations and elections for the executive board.
  16. College of Sciences:
    1. Congratulations to Latrel on his acceptance to the UCLA School of Law!
  17. Graduate Student Association:
    1. None.
  18. Undeclared College:
    1. Explore SDSU was a success!
