I. CALL TO ORDER

Vice President of University Affairs Ronnie Cravens called the meeting to order at 3:39 PM.

VI. PUBLIC COMMENT

Justice Katrina Mogannam reminded members of their duty to serve on one of the University Senate committees and to sign-up by noon on February 1.

VII. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS


A. University Senate Designee, Dr. Cezar Ornatowski:

i. Gave academic senate updates and reviewed the allocation of the funds from the budget proposal. 

B. University Vice President for Student Affairs Designee, Dr. Andrea Dooley:

i. It is recruitment season for admitted students. Preparing for Explore SDSU and summer orientation.

ii. There is an updated Executive Order regarding vaccinations. All exemptions for vaccinations will be removed, except for medical conditions. New admitted students will need to submit their immunization records.

iii. There will be informative videos on Meningitis B vaccination clinics late February and March.

C. Economic Crisis Response Team (ECRT) Update (Time Certain 3:45 pm): Brianna Douglas, Economic Crisis Case Coordinator, and Stephanie Waits-Galia, Director of SDSU Well-Being and Health Promotion, introduced members to resources available through the Economic Crisis Response Team (ECRT). There are many resources for students who are in need of immediate food or in a housing crisis.

VIII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

A. General Consent Agenda (Action):

It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda.

B. General Consent Report (Information): The general consent report was reviewed via electronic copy. For further reference please request a printed copy of the General Consent Report copy from the Government Secretary.

IX. INTRODUCTION OF NEW LEGISLATIVE MATTERS

None.

X. REPORTS OF UNIVERSITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

A. Ronnie Cravens, Vice President of University Affairs:

1. Welcome back to the semester!

2. The University Affairs Board meeting will take place on Friday at 11 am in Council Chambers.

3. Will attend the International Student Center weekly coffee hours Fridays at 12 pm.

4. Will collaborate with elections for awareness of A.S. and the “Your Voice Matters” campaign to increase election applications and voter turnout.

5. Will collaborate with Nick on Mental Health Week.

6. There are currently nine vacancies on the University Senate committees.

7.There will be a healing circle February 20 at 3 pm.

B. Chris Thomas, President:

1. Attending the LA Regional Alumni Council.

C. Nickolas Wohlman, Executive Vice President:

1. Gave an update on the 1st Aztec Achievement Awards meeting. Applications are now open for nominations.

2. GreenFest artist will be announced on February 5.

3. Mental Health Week will take place April 15-19.

4. Encouraged members to attend the SDSU Leadership Summit on February 16.

D. Michael Wiafe, Vice President of External Relations:

None.

E. Christian Onwuka, Vice President of Financial Affairs:

1. Will work on the Peer Financial Literacy program.

2. Will finalize scripts on A.S. Funding.

3. Will serve on the Mission Valley Subcommittee.

F. Christina Brown, Executive Director:

1. Election dates are now on the website. Applications open on February 1 and are due February 21. Applications for appointed positions are due April 18.

2. There will be an SDCelebration on February 28 at 5 pm in the Courtyard.

3. President Adela de la Torre’s Investiture will take place on April 11 at 2 pm.

4. There will be a Swap Shop on April 24. Donations are welcomed and encouraged.

5. Attended the Auxiliary Organizations Association (AOA) Conference during break. Congratulations to Charlotte Roberts on being awarded a $5,000 scholarship by the AOA!

G. Tomi Osinfolarin, ASBOD Student-at-Large:

1. Working on projects.

H. Latrel Powell, ASBOD Student-at-Large:

1. Gave an update on California State Student Association (CSSA). They will launch a campaign to reform the financial aid system.

2. Will collaborate with another organization to support undocumented students.

3. Will meet with Assemblymember Shirley Weber’s office to discuss parking on college campus.

4. Encouraged members to attend the “More than Music” event next Friday from 6-10 pm.

5. The deadline for the “Quest for the Best” award is February 18.

6. Applications for Mortar Board close on February 15.

7. Applications for California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS) in Sacramento is open.

I. Warsan Artan, ASBOD Student-at-Large:

1. Will continue to participate in ARC Expansion conversations.

2. Will present February 5 at the Recreation and Wellness Commission to dedicate certain hours at the ARC Express for women only use.

3. Explained the TJ Homebuild. There will be a meeting on Thursday at the Center for Intercultural Relations (CIR) at 7 pm for more information.

J. College of Arts and Letters:

1. Applications for the Vice President of Finance is due on February 5.

2. Will plan a black party for the end of the semester.

3. Jada has been in communication with Counseling and Psychological services to plan a “healing circle”.

4. Meetings will take place Wednesday at 9 am in Legacy Suite.

5. There will be a TJ Homebuild meeting tomorrow at 7 pm.

K. College of Business:

1. None.

L. College of Education:

1. None.

M. College of Engineering:

1. There is a new Vice President of Finance.

2.  Will plan the “Discover SDSU” event.

3. There will be an event in the A.S. Courtyard tomorrow from 1-4 pm.

4. Will begin Coffe with the Dean.

N. College of Health and Human Services:

1. None.

O. College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts:

1. Meetings will be Wednesday at 10 am.

2. There is a new publications chair.

3. Encouraged members to participate in their A.S. Expo on February 13 from 10-11 am.

4. “The Star Return” will take place on March 11 with notable SDSU College of PSFA Alumni.

5. Will establish tentative dates for the “Lend a Hand” campaign.

P. College of Sciences:

1. “Discover Your Dream” event will take place in March. Will collaborate with the College of Health and Human Services, Business, and Engineering.

Q. Graduate Student Association:

1. Will apply for more travel funds.

2. Will participate in the housing plans for Mission Valley.

3. There will be an event for undergraduate students on March 12 from 12-1 pm. There will be a panel of graduate students.

4. Coffee with GSA leaders will begin soon. 

R. Undeclared College:

1. Discussed the panel event on February 26 at 4 pm.
