Vice President of University Affairs Ronnie Cravens called the meeting to order at 4:43 PM

IV. MODIFICATIONS TO AGENDA

It was moved and seconded to approve today’s agenda.

There was a friendly amendment to add UC Rep to the A.S. Vacancy Committee as an action item. There were no objections.

VI. PUBLIC COMMENT

  1. CJ Wessel, representative from Gallo Winery, informed members of the career and internship opportunities for Gallo Wine company.
  2. Anya Shutovska introduced the five students selected for the 2018-2019 A.S. First-Year Leadership Experience.

VII. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

  1. University Senate Designee, Dr. Cezar Ornatowski: No report.
  2. University Vice President for Student Affairs Designee, Dr. Andrea Dooley: 
    1. Introduced the single service programs and other ongoing activities with Counseling and Psychological services.

VIII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action): 
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda.

  2. General Consent Report (Information): The general consent report was reviewed via electronic copy. For further reference please request a printed copy of the General Consent Report copy from the Government Secretary.

    It was moved and seconded to open the floor for UC Rep. to the A.S. Vacancy Committee nominations.

    It was moved and seconded to close the floor for UC Rep. to the A.S. Vacancy Committee nominations.

    It was moved and seconded to select Jada Johnson, Saba Abri, and Kemahni Booze for the UC Reps. to the A.S. Vacancy Committee.

IX. INTRODUCTION OF NEW LEGISLATIVE MATTERS

None.

X. REPORTS OF UNIVERSITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Ronnie Cravens, Vice President of University Affairs:
    1. Met with the College of Sciences to discuss goals.
    2. Congratulations to Steven Plante, Vice Chair of University Affairs Board!
    3. The first Academic Affairs Council Meeting will take place on Friday, September 28 at 9 am.
    4. The Aztec Mentor Program (AMP) Talk will host a networking event on Thursday, October 4 from 5:30-7:30 pm.
    5. There will be a Graduate School fair October 11 at 10 am in Montezuma Hall.
    6. There will be a STEM Career Fair on October 24 from 10 am – 2:30 pm in Montezuma Hall.
    7. The SDSU Winter session will be nine days starting January 2. More information to come.
  2. Chris Thomas, President: No report.
  3. Nickolas Wohlman, Executive Vice President: 
    1. Homecoming will be on Saturday, October 20, at 7:30 pm.
    2. The Padres College Night will be on Saturday.
    3. Informed members on the BRAVE project.
    4. Expressed his gratitude for members attending the All-Council Training.
    5. The Aztec Dance Marathon (ADM) leadership team will hold a fundraiser at Wings ‘N Things tonight.
    6. The A.S. Hoop Dream Intramural Team will play tonight at 10 pm.
  4. Michael Wiafe, Vice President of External Relations:
    1. Attended California State Student Association (CSSA) at Chico State with Kaila Cooper and discussed the budget and executive compensation.
    2. Presented on CSSA at the External Relations Board.
    3. Latrel is in Washington D.C. advocating for CSU students.
  5. Christian Onwuka, Vice President of Financial Affairs:
    1. Aztecs Rock Hunger (ARH) begins Friday. There will be a kickoff event in the Courtyard at 12 pm. Volunteers are needed. The goals is to raise $700,000.
  6. Christina Brown, Executive Director: 
    1. There is a part-time Food Pantry coordinator position open.
    2. Volunteers are urgently needed for the Food Pantry.
    3. The following All Council Training will include a Food Pantry Training.
    4. Extended herself as a resource.
  7. Tomi Osinfolarin, ASBOD Student-at-Large: None.
  8. Latrel Powell, ASBOD Student-at-Large: None.
  9. Warsan Artan, ASBOD Student-at-Large: 
    1. Excited for the Rock the Vote campaign.
    2. Attended two ARC Expansion Task Force meetings through Recreation and Wellness Commission.
    3. Will meet with the council representatives.
  10. College of Arts and Letters: 
    1. Discussed student concerns about student involvement at Senate meetings.
    2. CAL meeting was cancelled this week.
    3. Will work on transition binders.
  11. College of Business: 
    1. None.
  12. College of Education: 
    1. Coffee/Tea with the Dean will take place on Monday from 4:30-5:30 pm. Dates and times will change every week to accommodate student availability.
  13. College of Engineering:
    1. Gave an update on the pumpkin drop event.
  14. College of Health and Human Services: 
    1. None.
  15. College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts:
    1. Launched office hours.
  16. College of Sciences:
    1. Will have office hours.
    2. There will be an all council retreat.
  17. Graduate Student Association:
    1. There will be a graduate student at every council meeting.
  18. Undeclared College:
    1. None.
