Vice President of University Affairs Chris Thomas called the meeting to order at 3:42 PM.

VI. PUBLIC COMMENT

  1. Nickolas Wohlman invited members to a Take Back the Night event next Wednesday from 4-5:30 pm in front of Hepner Hall. This event will be part of Take Back the Week and will discuss the importance of not staying silent regarding the issue of sexual assault on college campuses.

VIII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action):
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda.

  2. General Consent Report (Information): The general consent report was reviewed via electronic copy. For further reference please request a printed copy of the General Consent Report copy from the Government Secretary.
  3. Selection of UC members to serve on the appointments and review committee (Action):

    It was moved and seconded to open nominations to select the UC members to serve on the appointments and review committee.

    It was moved and seconded to close nominations for the selection of the UC members to serve on the appointments and review committee.

    Congratulations to Michael Glassman, Nickolas Marquez, and Nikki Zargari for being selected as the UC members to serve on the appointments and review committee.

IX. INTRODUCTION OF NEW LEGISLATIVE MATTERS

X. REPORTS OF UNIVERSITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Chris Thomas, Vice President of University Affairs: 
    1. There is a shared governance discussion for discussion occurring between Associated Students, the Senate, and administration. He will form a focus group beginning the week of April 16.
    2. Reminded members to visit advising due to the New Registration Timeline.
    3. There will be a reception with the BRC leaders on April 18 from 3-4 pm.
  2. Chimezie Ebiriekwe, President:
    1. Completed the Provost Review over Spring Break.
    2. Will attend the California State Student Association (CSSA) this weekend in Long Beach with Michael Wiafe.
  3. Vanessa Girard, Executive Vice President: 
    1. Campus Safety Week events will continue this week. There will be a letter writing event with the External Relations Board involving mental health bills.
    2. Reminded members to RSVP for Aztec Achievement Awards by Monday, April 9.
  4. Carmel Alon, Vice President of External Relations:
    1. As part of the Choose CSU campaign, there will be an opportunity to write a postcard to Governor Brown advocating for a fully funded CSU.
    2. Reminded members to educate students on the importance of being registered to vote.
  5. Hayden Willis, Vice President of Financial Affairs: 
    1. Rebudgets have been completed.
    2. Will form a consolidated 2018-2019 budget.
  6. Christina Brown, Executive Director:
    1. There will be a Swap Shop on April 23.
    2. The soft opening for the Media Studio will be on April 17 from 11am-1pm.
    3. April 25 will be the all A.S. council meeting for the transition of leaders.
    4. Reminded members to place their room reservation with Janice for their council meetings.
    5. Application for Board of Directors and Judicial Affairs Council are due Wednesday, April 11.
  7. Victor Uwakwe, ASBOD Student-at-Large:
    1. None.
  8. Michelle Sabin, ASBOD Student-at-Large:
    1. None.
  9. Farris Nabulsi, ASBOD Student-at-Large: 
    1. None.
  10. College of Arts and Letters:
    1. Will collaborate with the College of Engineering for the “Clash of the Colleges” event on April 19.
    2. There will be a guest speaker on Friday for the “Take Back the Night” event.
    3. Happy Birthday, Zakkiya!
  11. College of Business:
    1. Will host an Apple Event, “How Technology is Inspiring our Next Generation”, on April 18 in Templo Mayor.
  12. College of Education:
    1. None.
  13. College of Engineering:
    1. The Dean’s Ping Pong Tournament will take place April 12 in the EIS building courtyard.
    2. Will host an Apple Event on April 18.
    3. Will collaborate with the College of Sciences to host an Open Forum on April 16.
  14. College of Health and Human Services:
    1. There will be a Philanthropy Event on April 13 from 9:30 am-3:30 pm in support of the San Diego ALS Foundation.
  15. College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts:
    1. Will continue with the Lend a Hand campaign.
    2. Inspiration Awards will take place on April 25.
  16. College of Sciences:
    1. Will collaborate with the College of Engineering on Monday, April 16 from 4-6 pm on an event in the Center for Intercultural Relations.
    2. There will be an event in the East African Cultural Community Center in City Heights. It will be hosted by the organizations of the College of Sciences.
  17. Graduate Student Association:
    1. None.
  18. Undeclared College:
    1. None.
