VII. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

  1. University Senate Designee, Dr. Cezar Ornatowski: see report as attached.
  2. University Vice President for Student Affairs Designee, Dr. Andrea Dooley: 
    1. Looking for student input on the Economic Crisis and Response Team (ECRT) for a new communication plan and outreach strategy.
    2. The Calpulli Center will build a partnership with the Library for wellness efforts.
    3. Students Affairs will participate in Campus Safety week.
    4. Acted as the executive liaison during the NCAA tournament.
  3. Winter Intersession- Daniel Waterman, Associate Dean for CES and Casey Rothenberger, Executive Director of CES Programs
    1. Daniel Waterman and Casey Rothenberger discussed the possibility of the Winter Intercession as an opportunity to offer courses in a two-week window with a four-unit maximum. They will decide which courses will be available and suitable for Winter Intersession. Students who take courses during this intersession are required to be highly motivated.

IX. INTRODUCTION OF NEW LEGISLATIVE MATTERS

X. REPORTS OF UNIVERSITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Chris Thomas, Vice President of University Affairs: 
    1. There is a shared governance discussion for discussion occurring between Associated Students, the Senate, and administration.
    2. Will continue to discuss the comments received for the “Your Voice Matters” campaign.
    3. Reminded members of the New Registration Timeline.
    4. Have a great spring break!
  2. Chimezie Ebiriekwe, President:
    1. Explore SDSU was a success.
    2. Will meet with the Provost Committee on Friday to review the final draft of the Provost review that was recently submitted.
    3. There will be a Black Resource Center (BRC) and AS student leader reception at the BRC before Campus Life Council on April 18.
  3. Vanessa Girard, Executive Vice President: 
    1. Explore SDSU was a success. Thankful for the A.S. leaders for attending.
    2. The reception with the BRC leaders will take place on Wednesday, April 18 at 3:30 pm before Campus Life Council.
    3. There were 205 applications submitted for Aztec Achievement Awards with 79 nominations. The Awards Committees selected the winners and awards will be announced on April 19 at 5-7 pm. This year’s theme will be “Your Adventure Awaits”.
    4. Gave an update on the Red and Black Shuttle and the final proposed plan for the pilot program. The hours of operation for Fall 2018 will be Monday to Friday from 5 pm-midnight with four vans on the rotation.
    5. April 10 will be “Ride your bike to school day”. Will partner with the Ofo bike company.
    6. Campus Safety week will be April 2-6. Encouraged members to attend events. They will film a promo video to educate students on different resources.
  4. Carmel Alon, Vice President of External Relations:
    1. California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS) was on March 10-12. They met with legislators and attended the rally at the Capitol to lobby for the CSU’s “Back to Basics” campaign. Senator Glazer, a past SDSU A.S. president, hosted a press conference in support of a fully funded CSU.
    2. “Rock the Vote” will be April 9-27. They will email the A.S. boards to gather volunteers to get students registered to vote. Stressed the importance of educating students to vote for a governor in support of a fully funded CSU.
  5. Hayden Willis, Vice President of Financial Affairs: 
    1. None.
  6. Christina Brown, Executive Director:
    1. Proud of the students, faculty, staff, and volunteers on their participation during the NCCA tournament.
    2. The campus email for faculty and staff will be unavailable this weekend. Emails will change from “@mail.sdsu.edu” to “@sdsu.edu”.
    3. Will take a tour through the Backdoor Studio with University Council and Campus Life Council. There will be an official celebration in the Fall.
    4. Elections Night will take place in Café Dining tomorrow at 8 pm.
  7. Victor Uwakwe, ASBOD Student-at-Large:
    1. Good luck on midterms!
  8. Michelle Sabin, ASBOD Student-at-Large:
    1. None.
  9. Farris Nabulsi, ASBOD Student-at-Large: 
    1. None.
  10. College of Arts and Letters:
    1. Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) will table on April 5.
    2. Will host an event with the College of Engineering in the Engineering and Interdisciplinary Sciences (EIS) Complex courtyard on April 19 from 12-3pm.
  11. College of Business:
    1. Business Achievement Awards (BAA) will be on April 5 from 5-7 pm.
    2. Will pilot a tutoring program for accounting courses.
    3. Will host an Apple Event on April 18.
  12. College of Education:
    1. Will serve food to the families at the Ronald McDonald house on April 22 from 4-8 pm.
    2. There will be an event with the National Teacher’s Association on March 21 from 6-8 in Templo Mayor.
    3. Congratulations to Leslie Moreno, the new College of Education president for next year!
  13. College of Engineering:
    1. The Dean’s Ping Pong Tournament will take place April 12.
    2. There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday.
    3. Will collaborate with the College of Arts and Letters on April 19 from 12-3 pm in the Courtyard of the College of Engineering in the Engineering and Interdisciplinary Sciences (EIS) Complex.
    4. Will host an Apple Event with the College of Business on April 8.
    5. There will be a discussion about a scholarship award for administrators who demonstrate care for the students.
  14. College of Health and Human Services:
    1. Discussed campus safety week.
  15. College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts:
    1. “Spring into PSFA” was a success.
  16. College of Sciences:
    1. “Discover Your Dream” was a success.
  17. Graduate Student Association:
    1. None.
  18. Undeclared College:
    1. Will collaborate with Career Services on an event that will take place on April 3 from 3:30-4:30 pm to introduce internships.
    2. There will be an event on April 18 at 7:30 pm with Undeclared Student Success and Career Services.
    3. Will collaborate with the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts.

XI. ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. There will be a health fair on April 7 from 3-5 pm in the East African Community Center in the City Heights Area.
