I. CALL TO ORDER


Chief Justice Scarlett Walker called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m.

II. ROLL CALL

  3. Non-Voting Members Present: Vice President of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee, Janice Dils
  4. Non-Voting Members Absent: None.
  5. Guests Present: Gabriel Aguilar

It was moved and seconded to approve today’s agenda.

VI. CHAIR’S REPORT:

  1. Icebreaker: Rose, Bud, Thorn and Introductions
  2. Overview and Expectations
    Scarlett reviewed the expectations and roles for the Justices this academic year.

VII. INFORMATION

  1. JAC Roles/Buddy Assignments
    Scarlett shared the JAC buddy assignments with the Justices to ensure that they communicate and build a relationship with the Council members this year.

    The JAC roles for the year are as follows:

    Grace/Olivia V. - Elections Committee Dominic - Awards Committee
    Olivia A. and Andrea - Requirements
    Frances - Attendance
  2. Overview of Parliamentary Procedure

Janice gave an overview of Gloria Romero Open Meetings Law Act of 2000 and parliamentary procedure during the A.S. meetings.


C. Individualized Substitution Plans (ISPs)
Scarlett reviewed what ISPs are. In the next few weeks, we will see trends of absences by Council members via the REAF process.
D. Deadline for Requirements Discussion
The Justices engaged in discussion of the deadline(s) for the Councilmember requirements this semester. 

VIII. ACTION       

  1. Request for Excused Absences (REAFs)
    1. It was moved and seconded to approve Kate Byslma (UC) REAF for missing the fall retreat.

    2. It was moved and seconded to approve Elena Zarnecki’s (UC) REAF for missing the fall retreat.
    ALFONSO/TREPTOW     CARRIED (6-0-0)

IX. ADVISOR REPORTS

  1. Vice President of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee: Wanted to make the Justices aware of the SDSU Amnesty Policy. Please spread the word and stay safe.
  2. Executive Director Designee: Please save the date for the University Leaders Reception on October 8, 2025 at the University House from 5:30-7 p.m. Please wear your A.S. polo to the meetings.
