I. CALL TO ORDER

Chief Justice Victor Plunkett called the meeting to order at 11:05 a.m. (PT).

II. ROLL CALL

  1. Voting Members Present: Victor Plunkett, Kaetlyn Malatesta, Aliza Siddiqui, Jacob Cherayil, Toby Burack, Izaiah Quiruz, Casey Saplan
  2. Voting Members Absent: None.
  3. Non-Voting Members Present:  Janice Dils, Dr. Lee Mintz
  4. Non-Voting Members Absent:  None.
  5. Guests Present:  Derrick Herrera, Palni Bhatt.

III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA

It was moved and seconded to approve today’s agenda.

V. PUBLIC COMMENT- none

VI. CHAIR'S REPORT

 Victor led an icebreaker and reviewed an overview of the Judicial Affairs Council and expectations of a Justice.

VII. MEMBER REPORT- none

 

No member reports at this time.

VIII. INFORMATION

  1. JAC Roles and Assignments
    Victor informed the Justices regarding the different roles/responsibilities of each Justice, to include the JAC buddy assignments:

    Awards Committee: Toby
    Elections Committee: Casey and Kaetlyn
    Requirements: Aliza and Jacob
    Attendance:  Izaiah
     

      The Justices picked their buddies by College and CLC Commissions.

  2. Overview of Parliamentary Procedures: Postponed until the next meeting.
  3. Individualized Substitution Plan (ISPs): Victor reviewed what an ISP is and the process in which ISPs are approved. They will review their first ISP at next week’s meeting.
  4. Deadline for Requirements Discussion: Postponed until the next meeting.

IX. ACTION

  1. Appointments & Resignations
    It was moved and seconded to approve the appointments and resignations memo for 9/1/23, as attached.

     

  2. Request for Excused Absences - Postponed to the next meeting.

X. ANNOUNCEMENTS 

  1. Casey announced that Andres Bonafacio Samahan meets weekly from 12-1 p.m. every Friday. Come join after the meeting!
  2. Toby announced that the CSU Board of Trustees will be meeting to vote on a tuition fee. They will be convening on 9/12 and 9/13. Please take action and submit a public comment. Lobby Corps meets every other week from 11-12 p.m in the Visionary Suite.
