I. CALL TO ORDER

Chief Justice Christopher Lee called the meeting to order at 4:17 pm in the State Suite at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.

II. ROLL CALL

  1. Voting Members Present: Christopher Lee, Margot Ermer, Maryana Khames, Mackenzie Miller, Diego Ramirez.
  2. Voting Members Absent: Katrina Mogannam, Tiana Loving.
  3. Non-Voting Members Present: Dr. Lee Mintz, Jennifer Esquivel-Parker.
  4. Non-Voting Members Absent: None.
  5. Visitors Present: Fnu Mumtaz.

III. MODIFICATIONS OF AGENDA

It was moved and seconded to approve the agenda.

IV. APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MINUTES

It was moved and seconded to approve the previous minutes, as attached.

V. PUBLIC COMMENT

-

None.

VI.  CHAIR’S REPORT

  1. Chris Lee reported on the following:
    1. Spring meeting time will be from 5:00-6:30 pm. Council members will be in meetings, asked members if they should look into a different meeting time.
    2. Aztecs Rock Hunger (ARH) is still going on and ends on Sunday. Let’s get our numbers up!
    3. There is no meeting next week because the campus will be closed in honor of Veteran’s Day. 

VII. INFORMATION

  1. Attendance: Mackenzie and Margot reviewed the attendance charts and will be reaching out to Ashley and Stephen. 
  2. Elections 2020 update: The elections coordinator position is now open and applications are accepted until November 14th. Applications are available in the A.S. office. 
  3. Attend an organization and cultural event requirements submission: Diego reported on:
    1. Members that are missing both requirements: Maricruz Carrillo, Kiki Charles, Ashley Tejada, Stephen Jackson, George Scott, Christian Onwuka, and Kyla Blaylock. 
    2. Members that turned in the requirements late: Lee Abed (cultural), Kaylah Abdullah (cultural), CJ Holt (cultural), and Tiana Loving (both). Margot and Maryana will be reaching out to these students to ask them to come into the next JAC meeting on 11/18. 

VIII. ACTION

  1. Discussion and follow-up discussion with Fnu Mumtaz: It was moved and seconded to approve that:
    1. UC member duties and attendance responsibilities were provided to Fnu.
    2. He was reminded that he needs to work on an A.S. event this year.
    3. He is to ask for help when needed.
    4. If Fnu does not fulfill his event requirement, or his CAL and UC duties, or his attendance requirements, it may lead to a hearing.

  2. Appointments and Resignations: It was moved and seconded to approve the appointments and resignations memo, as attached.

  3. Requests for Excused Absences: Postponed until next meeting.

VIII. ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Support Aztecs Rock Hunger (ARH) at the Chipotle fundraiser that is going on right now.      
  2. Members were asked to send Nikki the date that they attended an open forum, if they did not attend the 10/30 A.S. hosted open forum.

X. ADJOURNMENT

It was moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 5:26 pm.
