A.S. President Kareen Holstrom, on behalf of Milan Rawls, called the meeting to order at 4:06 p.m.

VIII. REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS
- Milan Rawls, Executive Vice President, reported on the following (read by Kareen Holstrom):
The Good Neighbor Cleanup event is upcoming, and football tickets will be released at 9:00 a.m. on November 3. The Yard Show, part of Homecoming, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Montezuma Hall. Next week, the University Council will hold a special all-council meeting, beginning at 3:30 p.m. and continuing at 4:00 p.m., with the IRA presentation taking place in the Union Theatre. The IRA fee presentation for students will occur at 4:15 p.m. allowing all A.S. leaders to review the fee, provide recommendations, and share experiences to better understand student perspectives. - Kareen Holstrom, A.S. President:
The IRA fee was discussed last week at the Campus Fee Advisory Committee (CFAC), and members of CFAC are encouraged to reach out with questions or input. A Canvas pop-up inquiry has been noted, and details can be provided upon request.
The E-Sports Center, in collaboration with Milan, is being promoted to students, with ongoing efforts to increase student engagement in the gaming industry; a flight simulator will also be added to the space.
Gathering information related to the The Academic Partnership Agreement with Nadia and the University Affairs Board Vice Chair involved in identifying areas for improvement.
The SWANA Center will hold a survey meeting on Monday, and updates to the charge letter specifics will follow the meeting with Dr. Manning. - Aliza Siddiqui, A.S. Vice President of Financial Affairs:
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Aztecs Rock Hunger pie-throwing fundraiser, which was a great success. Fundraising efforts went well, and support from the community is appreciated.
Friendsgiving with ARH is scheduled for November 12, offering free meals to as many students as possible. Many thanks to donations from local businesses. - Abby McLachlan, A.S. Vice President of External Relations:
“Rock the Vote” efforts are transitioning in preparation for the upcoming midterms, noting that many students will not be on campus when voting opens. Students are invited to provide feedback to A.S.
Additionally, meetings with state legislators are underway to gain support for housing initiatives, ensuring readiness when relevant bills are introduced.
SNAP benefits and other student support programs remain under review, with updates to be provided as available. - Nadia Gallarzo, A.S. Vice President of University Relations:
Collaboration is ongoing with Career Services and College Council Presidents on AI credentials.
A new budget allocation has been approved to support College Councils, the Career Fair Advantage Chair, and initiatives related to the “Your Voice Matters” projects. - Christina Brown, Executive Director:
November benefits for the federal SNAP program are delayed; in California, this program is known as CalFresh. Individuals seeking assistance are encouraged to use the ECRT application as an alternative. Additionally, 20% of ARH proceeds will be allocated to ECRT in the form of gift cards for students. - Brian Levett, Government Affairs Assistant Director:

Outreach is being conducted with RSOs to assess their community needs and resource requirements. Feedback has highlighted a lack of transparency and a need for additional resources from within A.S.
The A.S. website is in need of updates for each committee and commission, including the addition of a public comment section, to better represent and communicate the work of all commissions and committees. - Jasmin Zeis-Khalil, ASBOD Student-At-Large,reported on the following:
Work is ongoing on the SWANA survey, alongside continued outreach with administration to sustain progress on the initiative. - Ava Alvarado, ASBOD Student-At-Large, reported on the following:
Met with Caryl Montero-Adams to discuss the Student Bill of Rights and proposed amendments, which are expected to be completed by the end of the semester.
Met with Dr. Emilio Ulloa to review current developments and administrative planning regarding the future of Hispanic student institution status; the university will continue to operate as an Hispanic student institution in practice, even without the formal designation, to maintain support structures such as grants and scholarships for students.
Met with Dr. Taharka Ade to continue work on the student, teacher model and its current implementation. - Aztec Student Union Board reported on the following:
Homecoming was successfully completed, with three main events held and strong attendance of approximately 300 participants at the first event and 200 at the second.
“Dancing Under the Stars” will take place in the courtyard today, and additional events are scheduled for next week. - Campus Community Commission reported on the following:
The Good Neighbor Cleanup event was successful with strong community participation.
Narcan information was posted prior to Halloween, and a follow-up on this initiative is planned for January. - Community Service Commission reported on the following:
The team is working on reaching out to members who have not been attending consistently, and individuals who continue to be absent will be removed from the roster.
Updates were provided on Aztec Rock Hunger, community service volunteer opportunities, and the upcoming Friendsgiving event, for which participants are encouraged to sign up for meals. - Student Support Commission reported on the following:
Over the last few weeks, the team toured several resource centers and is planning a Resource Fair event for the spring.
They also visited the Commuter Resource Center to determine how best to support commuter students, and an email will be sent out to gather feedback. - Recreation and Wellness Commission reported on the following:
The Adapted Athletics Lift-a-Thon will be held on November 15, featuring benching and squatting events, with team registration available. A presentation from Competitive Sports and Sport Clubs was given regarding budget approvals.
An update was also shared on the new climbing wall, which was built in connection with the Women Climbers Club’s introduction.
Additionally, Men’s Health Awareness events are scheduled for November 20 and December 2. - Student Diversity Commission reported on the following:
SDC is continuing its efforts within the Peace Village and highlighting its ongoing work across campus.
Recent walkarounds at community centers included visits to the Latinx Center and the APIDA Center. - Sustainability/Green Love Commission reported on the following:
Grow with Greenfest will take place this Thursday from 4:00–6:00 p.m, and the Halloween Cleanup is scheduled for this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. - Marketing and Communications Commission reported on the following:

IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS:
- Justin: The Safety Committee will hold a lighting walk on November 19 to identify areas needing repairs and submit work orders, with food provided for participants.
- Nadia: highlighted the Rock the Casa event on Saturday, supporting philanthropy for children entering the foster care system, featuring live bands with tickets available through her.
- Julia: On November 17, the ASL Club will host a screening of the Barbie movie with an ASL interpreter.
- Marlie: Housing and transportation support can be provided based on individual circumstances.
