I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Executive Vice President, Sam Lingao, called the meeting to order at 3:38 p.m.

VI. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS 

  1. SDSU Vice President of Student Affairs Designee, Caryl Montero-Adams reported on the following: Gave thanks to all ASCLC Representatives who have done outstanding work this entire semester. Student Affairs and Campus Diversity is hosting a “Midnight Study Break” event on Thursday May 2d during finals. 
  2. Parking Rate Restructuring Proposal - JD Weidman, Director of Parking & Transportation Services (Time Certain: 3:45 p.m.)

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action):
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda besides Recreation and Wellness Commission 3/26 and editing of Student Diversity Committee meeting attendance.

VIII. REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Sam Lingao, Executive Vice President: Thank you to everyone who participated in Explore SDSU. Next Thursday will be the Aztec Achievement Awards ceremony. 
  2. Tarek Morsy, President: Recently spoke at an Artificial Intelligence Summit alongside Ally Gallant. Gave an overview of how the Summit went. 
  3. Melvin Ridley III, Vice President of External Relations: Just came back from an advocacy visit at Washington D.C. Preparing the transition documents and introducing the new Vice President of External Relations. Attending the Good Neighbor clean up event on Sunday morning. 
  4. Leo Pena, Vice President of Financial Affairs: The planned Thursday’s Together being Chipotle has been canceled and will now be Costco pizza.
  5. Ally Gallant, Vice President of University Affairs: At the last University Council meeting the IT department came and gave a presentation regarding San Diego State University’s efforts in Artificial Intelligence. Various college councils have been holding executive board elections, anyone interested in being involved with their college council should contact the council to inquire about elections. 
  6. Patricio Silva, ASBOD Student-At-Large: Attended Explore SDSU and was excited to see so many incoming students interested in Associated Students. 
  7. Gianna Salazar, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  8. Kailey Quezada, ASBOD Student-At-Large: Amended the Hispanic Serving Institution advisory board bylaws to include an A.S. liaison on their executive board. Starting next year there will be an HSI representative serving on the Student Diversity Committee. 
  9. Christina Brown, Associated Students Executive Director: No report. 
  10. Brian Levett, Government Affairs Assistant Director: No report. 
  11. Aztec Student Union Board (ASUB): The longtime advisor for ASUB, Veronica Perondi, has accepted a new position and the new advisor will be Carlos Guillen. Next week's meeting will be covering internal executive elections. Holding a couple events to close out the semester. 
  12. Community Service Commission (CSC): Recently held two community service projects at Sharias closet. There will be a service event tomorrow where the Community Service Commission will make dog blankets and beds, Counseling and Psychological Services will be bringing therapy dogs to the event. On 4/20 there is a collaboration event with the positivity club where they will be completing a 
  13. Campus Community Commission (CCC): The cornhole event was extremely successful. Working on transition documents for the next commissioner and representative. There is a Good Neighbor clean up this Sunday morning 11-1 p.m. 
  14. Recreation and Wellness Commission: The marketing team has been doing great work on the Recreation and Wellness Commission Instagram. The Aztec Recreation Center is hiring lifeguards for the summer. Exercise Nutrition Sciences are open for registration, try a fitness class for credit at a low cost.  
  15. Student Diversity Commission (SDC): Working on the DEI climate survey. Hoping to increase participation on the survey this year. Reviewed the Inclusive SDSU website and there have been multiple positive updates. 
  16. Student Support Commission (SSC): No report. 
  17. Green Love/Sustainability Commission: The second A.S. Swap Shop was successful. This swap shop was a collaboration with sports teams and that led to even more participation. Held a collaboration event with Students for Justice in Palestine last week where they reviewed the environmental cost of the conflict in Gaza. The Sustainability Summit was today and hosted by the Presidential Advisory Committee. 
  18. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large, Jasmin Zeis-Khalil: Helped organize a collaboration event with ASUB to create a Middle Eastern focused Cooking with Chefs event. The collaboration event with Students for Justice in Palestine and Greenlove went great as well. 
  19. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large, Nadia Dedgeba: No report. 
  20. Marketing and Communications Commission: Held their commissioner report for next year. Vice chair elections will be held next week. 

IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS 

  1. Kailey Quezada announced that on 4/23 the Hispanic Serving Institution office is holding a welcome event for new SDSU Lantinx faculty titled “Mi Casa Es Su Casa”. 
  2. Tarek Morsy announced that everyone should encourage their colleagues to attend the final all council meeting, and expressed pride in everybody’s work throughout the semester. 
  3. Kat Hernandez announced that her dance team Xcentric will be hosting a hip-hop showcase on 5/1 from 7-9 in Montezuma theater. 
  4. Janine Ezomo announced that the Black Pre-Law Association will be hosting their end of the year mixer in the backyard of the BRC on Friday.
