I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Executive Vice President, Sam Lingao, called the meeting to order at 3:34 p.m.

VI. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS 

  1. SDSU Vice President of Student Affairs Designee, Caryl Montero-Adams reported on the following: There are various programs that Student Affairs and Campus Diversity are holding for students: SDSUGo, a field trip program for SDSU students, there is an upcoming program for a San Diego Harbor Tour that still has availability. SDSUGo information can be found on the Student Affairs and Campus Diversity website. 

VII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. Selection of ASCLC Members for the ASJAC Appointment and Review Committee (Action)
    It was moved and seconded to approve Kat Hernandez, Patricio Silva, and Kailey Quezada to serve on the ASJAC Appointment and Review Committee with Leo Pena and Gigi Salazar serving as alternates.

  2. General Consent Agenda (Action):
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda beside Recreation and Wellness Commission minutes as well as an adjustment to Green Love Commission’s meeting attendance.

VIII. REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Sam Lingao, Executive Vice President: There will be a Public Health career panel on 3/19 in the College of Health and Human Services weekly meeting. The A.S. write in candidate application is due 3/22. The appointed position application for A.S. will be due 4/14. All representatives will receive an invitation to the Aztec Achievement Awards on 4/25. At the next meeting there will be a presentation from Counseling and Psychological Services. 
  2. Tarek Morsy, President: No report. 
  3. Melvin Ridley III, Vice President of External Relations: Had a great time at the California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS) in Sacramento and was able to advocate for students at a state level. Transitioning out of voting registration right now but starting to look ahead for the Presidential election in Fall. Approximately 135 students have been registered to vote through Rock the Vote. Looking to draft a proposal to advocate for funding from the city council to improve lighting in the college area. 
  4. Leo Pena, Vice President of Financial Affairs: Tomorrow’s Thursdays-Together will be pizza at 12 p.m. for National Pie Day. The Financial Affairs Committee has approved a new fund for students who want to study anywhere the Atzec empire had influence, specifically Oaxaca. The Financial Affairs Committee has been looking into facility rebudgets. 
  5. Ally Gallant, Vice President of University Affairs: In University Council two weeks ago the resolution calling for a Gaza ceasefire passed. The resolution is now on the A.S. website, posted on social media, and emailed to the University President and Chancellor’s office. The turnout for the March 6th Career Advantage event was really good. 
  6. Patricio Silva, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  7. Gianna Salazar, ASBOD Student-At-Large: Attended strategic planning committee meeting, the environment was interesting and engaging with different campus partners. Used attendance in the meeting to advocate for Green Love’s sustainability efforts in A.S. 
  8. Kailey Quezada, ASBOD Student-At-Large: At the strategic planning committee meeting they reaffirmed the importance of shared governance. On 4/23 the Hispanic Serving Institution office is holding a welcome event for new SDSU Lantinx faculty titled “Mi Casa Es Su Casa”. The Institutional Learning Outcome will be presented to the Senate Executive Committee next month. 
  9. Christina Brown, Associated Students Executive Director: Hoping to increase the amount of GreenFest tickets claimed. Ryan DeLong, Director of Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union, has announced a reorganization of his staff, changes were reviewed. Introduced Carlos Guillen, a new full time staff member of the Student Union. 
  10. Brian Levett, Government Affairs Assistant Director: Shout out to all the students completing hard work for A.S. 
  11. Aztec Student Union Board (ASUB): Completed a spring rebudget. Halfway through Greenfest week and there are multiple events planned for the rest of the week. The career fair with sustainability focused careers was extremely successful. The best way to get Greenfest tickets is to visit the link in the Greenfest Instagram. All A.S. Representatives can receive their tickets from the A.S. front desk. 
  12. Community Service Commission (CSC): The Aztec Unity project will be on Friday hosted by the Glazer Center For Leadership and Service. Working on a service hour campaign, essentially a “push week” for service hour submissions. During the campaign people will be allowed to write the Community Service Commission when reporting hours. If any commission is in need of volunteers for service hours then they should reach out to the Community Service Commission. 
  13. Campus Community Commission (CCC): Planning a “Cornhole for Campus Resources” event with the University Police Department. Planning to send out a form for resource tabling during the event. Designing an A.S. cornhole board. Good Neighbor clean up will be on 3/24. Working to update the Campus Community Commission website. 
  14. Recreation and Wellness Commission: Recently received a tour of the Aquaplex. Went to Snapdragon Stadium and reviewed an empty plot of land with the idea of creating additional space for intramural sports once the surrounding area is developed. Reviewing the yearly budget next week. 
  15. Student Diversity Commission (SDC): Held a “Discover Your Roots”  event for Greenfest. Introduced the Climate Survey to the entire commission as the next big project following the resolution. 
  16. Student Support Commission (SSC): Completed charter revisions on Monday. The resource guide is almost completed. Working with the Marketing and Communications Commission to post resource tips every week. 
  17. Green Love/Sustainability Commission: Reviewed all of the Greenfest events going on during the week. The Sustainability Summit will be on Wednesday April 17th. 
  18. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large, Jasmin Zeis-Khalil: No report. 
  19. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large, Nadia Dedgeba: No report. 
  20. Marketing and Communications Commission: Working on videos for the A.S. Instagram. Preparing to table and begin spirit carting for A.S. elections. Working with the Student Support Commission to post a “resource tip of the week”. 

IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS 

  1. Jamie Uribe won the composting bin that Sam did a trivia competition for. 
  2. Kat Hernandez announced that the dance team (Ignite) she is the captain of is having a performance this Saturday. 
  3. Jasmin Zeis-Khalil announced that Ramadan began this week, on March 25th there will be a community Iftar.
