I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Executive Vice President, Sam Lingao, called the meeting to order at 3:40 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.

II. ROLL CALL

III. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

VI. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS 

  1. SDSU Vice President of Student Affairs Designee, Caryl Montero-Adams reported on the following: Student Affairs and Campus Diversity has formed a committee to review the recognized student organization handbook. SACD is also hosting a variety of programs and events throughout the spring semester. SDSUGo has multiple field trips for students planned. 
  2. Transportation Initiatives - JD Weidman, Director of Parking & Transportation Services (Time Certain 4 p.m.)

    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda beside Student Diversity Committee, Campus Community Commission, and Aztec Student Union Board.

VIII. REPORTS

 

  1. Sam Lingao, Executive Vice President: A.S. elections are approaching, briefly explaining the difference between elected and appointed positions while encouraging competitive elections. Encouraged people to join the Awards Committee Meetings. Judicial Affairs Committee requirements will be due April 14th and members who did not complete last semester’s requirements will be reached out to. This weeks ‘Thursday’s Together’ will be Everbowl at 12 p.m. Next week will be ‘Friday Friends’ with Imperial Valley representatives. Next Tuesday (2/20) will be the “Courtside Chats” event which is important to attend. 
  2. Tarek Morsy, President: Career Advantage is continuing to expand and create more opportunities for students to engage with the initiative. The election application deadline is approaching and will close Friday at 4 p.m. 
  3. Melvin Ridley III, Vice President of External Relations: Vote-A-Palooza event is tomorrow. Preparing for the California Higher Education Student Summit. Traveling to Sacramento for the CSU Advocacy day. 
  4. Leo Pena, Vice President of Financial Affairs: No report. 
  5. Ally Gallant, Vice President of University Affairs: Gave an overview of the resolution process and why the Student Diversity Commission is reviewing it. The updated version of the resolution will be presented to the University Council next week for a second reading. Career Advantage event being planned for 3/6. 
  6. Patricio Silva, ASBOD Student-At-Large: Working with Malia and Alondra on the resource guide for Student Support commission.  
  7. Gianna Salazar, ASBOD Student-At-Large: Working on attending more Greenlove meetings. 
  8. Kailey Quezada, ASBOD Student-At-Large: Working with the Board of Directors and Dr.Ulloa on revising an institutional learning outcome. 
  9. Christina Brown, Associated Students Executive Director: No report. 
  10. Brian Levett, Government Affairs Assistant Director: No report. 
  11. Aztec Student Union Board (ASUB): No report. 
  12. Community Service Commission (CSC): Next Thursday from 12-2 p.m. will be the Spring Service fair, which will have external local non-profit organizations tabling service opportunities. Good Neighbor Clean Up is on 2/18. Dance Marathon event is 2/24, Community Service Commission has raised around five hundred dollars. Planning Two Aztec Unity projects on 3/15 and 4/11.  
  13. Brian Levett on Behalf of Campus Community Commission (CCC): Good Neighbor clean up event scheduled for this week. Holding a Rolando street fair collaboration on 4/14. Gearing towards working with the University Police Department for a safety fair in April. 
  14. Recreation and Wellness Commission: Reviewed the promotional material for the Your Mental Health Matters push week. Looking for volunteers to assist with events next week. 
  15. Brian Levett on Behalf of Student Diversity Commission (SDC): Starting to work on the climate survey and planning their Greenfest event. 
  16. Student Support Commission (SSC): Working on the resource guide and in need of assistance with sharing a google form asking students about accessibility and knowledge of resources on campus. 
  17. Green Love/Sustainability Commission: Attended a San Diego Green Building Council meeting where A.S. won an award for the hard work in sustainability. “How to be a Climate Activist” event is on 2/28 from 11-12 at Scripps Cottage. Planning a Native Healing event with the Native Resource Center. 
  18. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large, Jasmin Zeis-Khalil: Aztec Student Union Board approved a collaboration between the “Cooking with Chefs” event and the Center for Intercultural Relations, where Middle eastern food will be implemented in the program to celebrate Middle Eastern Heritage month in April. 
  19. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large, Nadia Dedgeba:  Keeping up with the resolution process and the students involved. 
  20. Marketing and Communications Commission: Introduced the color changing promotional cups. Working to promote events and elections through social media. 

IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS

Sam Lingao: Passed out copies of the A.S. composite for 2-23-2024. Wishing a happy birthday to Ally Gallant.
