I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Executive Vice President, Sam Lingao, called the meeting to order at 3:33 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.

It was moved and seconded to return to public comment to allow for one public comment.

A public comment was made regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and student safety concerns.

VI. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS 

  1. SDSU Vice President of Student Affairs Designee, Caryl Montero-Adams reported on the following: The search for the new Vice President of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity ended and Dr. Chris Manning accepted the position. He will be welcomed into the Student Affairs and Campus Diversity office at the end of February.

    Campus Life Council representatives engaged in an end of the semester reflection. 

     

  3. Fall 2023 Recap (Information)
    Sam Lingao led a review and recap of the Fall 2023 semester. 

VIII. REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Sam Lingao, Executive Vice President: Planning various spring semester events such as GreenFest, Aztec Achievement Awards, and Career Advantage speaker series events. The public comments regarding campus safety are being addressed, and a proposed resolution will be presented at University Council during the spring semester. 
  2. Tarek Morsy, President: No report. 
  3. Melvin Ridley III, Vice President of External Relations: The Community Conversations event went really well. Preparding for the California Higher Education Student Summit and the upcoming Presidential elections. 
  4. Leo Pena, Vice President of Financial Affairs: No report. 
  5. Ally Gallant, Vice President of University Affairs: No report. 
  6. Patricio Silva, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  7. Gianna Salazar, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  8. Kailey Quezada, ASBOD Student-At-Large: Excited for the new Vice President of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity, Dr.Manning is excited to work with student leaders and make great impacts. 
  9. Christina Brown, Associated Students Executive Director: No report. 
  10. Brian Levett, Government Affairs Assistant Director: Continuing to develop the alumni chapter for Associated Students, working with current and previous A.S. leaders to promote it. A key point of contact will be Linkedin and Aztec Network. 
  11. Aztec Student Union Board (ASUB): Sent four students to the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) conference. All members of the Aztec Student Union Board are finishing their requirements for the semester. There are three events planned for the rest of the semester for today, Wednesday, and Thursday. Jamie is working with Ally Gallant and Sam Lingao on event planning for next semester. 
  12. Community Service Commission (CSC): Brainstorming ideas for the next semester, hoping to implement community service hour requirements for various organizations on campus. 
  13. Campus Community Commission (CCC): The next meeting will be a Campus Safety Committee meeting, where they will go over student concerns and community partner updates. In the process of planning events for next semester. 
  14. Recreation and Wellness Commission: Working on the Mending Minds campaign week for next semester (February 19-23). The week will focus on wellness events while incorporating a physical health aspect. 
  15. Student Diversity Commission (SDC): Working on InclusiveSDSU, tasks forces within the Student Diversity Commission, and planning a cultural career fair. 
  16. Student Support Commission (SSC): Main goal is to finish the resource guide. Format is already decided on but the commission is still deciding on additional features. Anticipating collaboration with other commissions to ensure the resource guide is completed. 
  17. Green Love/Sustainability Commission: Glen Brandenburg is retiring and there was a sustainability scholarship dedicated in his name. Greenfest is approaching as well as Battle of the Bands. The last event will be on Saturday when they are going to visit the Farmer’s Nursery. 
  18. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large, Jasmin Zeis-Khalil: No report. 
  19. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large, Nadia Dedgeba: No report. 
  20. Marketing and Communications Commission: Solidifying the sticker pack and final options for promotional magnet. Hoping to have guest speakers in Marketing and Communications Committee meetings and hosting tabling events. 

IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS 

  1. Janine Ezomo: Come to Battle of the Bands, Janine will be judging. 
  2. Sam Lingao: There will be no Thursday’s Together this week.
