I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Executive Vice President, Sam Lingao, called the meeting to order at 3:36 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.

VI. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

  1. SDSU Vice President of Student Affairs Designee: None. 

VII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action):
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda.

  2. Campus Life Council Advisors (Information) (Time Certain 3:45 p.m.)
    The advisors for Campus Life Council commissions shared their role within their commission. 
  3. Review of CLC Events (Information)
    Sam shared a Google sheet that will be used to share all of the commission's events, initiatives and programs  throughout the year. 
    Discussion of Campus Life (Information)
  4. CLC Council Representatives shared issues that they have been hearing around campus that they or the executive board could work to address. 
  5. CLC of the Week (Information)
    Sam Lingao will be highlighting a different commission each week, this week is Campus Community Commission for all their work on safety. Do not forget to download the SDSU Safe App and have five friends do it as well. 

VIII. REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS 

  1. Sam Lingao, Executive Vice President: There are tabling opportunities approaching soon, reminding that Representatives need to fulfill their tabling requirement. The homecoming theme and logo have been chosen and will be announced soon. Meeting with SDSU Athletics to get more students involved with Homecoming. 
  2. Tarek Morsy, President: Conversations regarding careers are ongoing. Walkarounds regarding A.S. will start happening soon. 
  3. Melvin Ridley III, Vice President of External Relations: On 9/18, External Relations Board and Lobby Corps will be holding a Constitution Day event where they will play constitution trivia. For Voter Registration Day, members will table around campus to register people to vote. On the interview panel to select candidates for the SDSU Vice President of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity position. The tuition proposal from the CSU Chancellor passed today, A.S. is working to put out a campaign to inform students about financial resources to address the tuition increase.  
  4. Leo Pena, Vice President of Financial Affairs: Aztecs Rock Hunger had its first donation for the year. Aztecs Rock Hunger ‘walkarounds’ will continue within the next couple of weeks. There is no planned kickoff event for Aztecs Rock Hunger this year but instead there will be a social media campaign kick off.
  5. Ally Gallant, Vice President of University Affairs: University Council Representatives have been assigned to University Senate committees. There are open vacancies on some committees and if Campus Life Council Representatives are interested in joining to reach out. 
  6. Patricio Silva, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  7. Gianna Salazar, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  8. Kailey Quezada, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  9. Brian Levett for Christina Brown, Executive Director: The University House reception will be next Wednesday, make sure to RSVP. 
  10. Aztec Student Union Board (ASUB): The Greenfest Chair position has been filled but unfortunately the Marketing chair has stepped down so ASUB will be holding interviews again. Spring event proposals will be voted on in October so if any commissions are looking to host a collaboration event with ASUB they need to get in contact soon. 
  11. Community Service Commission (CSC): There was great turnout and participation in CSC’s first meeting. In two weeks there will be a community service fair. 
  12. Campus Community Commission (CCC): The first Campus Safety Committee meeting was today. CCC will be working to develop educational safety campaigns. Event planning is underway such as light walks and rideshare safety. Working to solidify dates for an event with the University Police Department. Looking to fill a secretary position. 
  13. Recreation and Wellness Commission: First two meetings focused on introductions and overview  to the commission. The commission will soon tour the Mission Valley campus to establish a new field space. Working to transition focus to Your Mental Health Matters and expanding mental health resources. ARC Fest is tonight from 7-10 p.m. 
  14. Student Diversity Commission (SDC): There has been positive turnout for meetings. Commission is starting with introductions and where diversity could most be improved on campus. Looking to focus on local communities and educating RA’s. Next week's meeting will be at the LatinX Resource Center. 
  15. Student Support Commission (SSC): Working to have different available resources come present at meetings, so far ECRT and the Basic Needs Center have given presentations. On Monday they will be having an open discussion as an extension to the discussion of Campus Life Council issues. 

  16. Green Love/Sustainability Commission: The next Green Lunch Bag series will be on carbon neutrality on September 20th. October 12th will be the Green Love Swap Shop event. There was a sustainable walk event and there were multiple sustainable organizations in the courtyard. 

  17. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large, Jasmin Zeis-Khalil: No report.

  18. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large, Nadia Dedgeba: No report. 

  19. Marketing and Communications Commission: Had a meeting today where they broke out into small groups. The next “Monthly Minute” will be filmed next Wednesday. There is a collaboration event with ASUB on 11/18. 

     

IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS 

  1. Sam Lingao announced that the University House reception will be next Wednesday, and tomorrow there will be donuts for the Thursday’s Together event. 
  2. Kailey Quezada announced that the Black Resource Center and the LatinX Resource Center are having a collaboration event tomorrow from 12-4 p.m. in the Black Resource Center backyard. 
  3. Gianna Salazar announced that parents weekend event registration is open.
