I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Executive Vice President, Sam Lingao, called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.

II. ROLL CALL

III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA

It was moved and seconded to approve the agenda of August 30.

VI. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

  1. SDSU Vice President of Student Affairs Designee: None. 

VII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION 

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action):
    There were no general consent agenda items. 
  2. Campus Life Council & CLC Commission Overview (Information)
    Sam Lingao gave an A.S. Campus Life Council and commission overview. 
  3. Discussion of Year's Events (Information)
    Sam Lingao reviewed the year’s events and encouraged collaboration between commissions. 

VIII. REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Sam Lingao, Executive Vice President: The A.S. Mixer was successful. They are trying to promote retention and getting new students involved. There will be A.S. tabling opportunities coming up. 
    Tailgating is now open to any recognized student organization (RSO) on campus.  They will have to register and have one member attend a safety meeting. 
  2. Tarek Morsy, President: Narrowing down A.S. goals and steps to developing career advancements. Everyone should be applying the 23/24 executive officer motto “Together as One…Get Stuff Done”.
  3. Melvin Ridley III, Vice President of External Relations: Working on the Rock the Vote initiative and planning on the External Relations Board.
    Constitution Day is 9/18. 
  4. Leo Pena, Vice President of Financial Affairs:  Aztecs Rock Hunger had its first leadership team meeting today.
  5. Ally Gallant, Vice President of University Affairs: Ally is working on planning University Council meetings as well as coordinating with college council presidents. Ally will be meeting with the Dean of the Library and the Provost soon. 
  6. Patricio Silva, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  7. Gianna Salazar, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  8. Kailey Quezada, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  9. Christina Brown, Executive Director: A.S. has a wide variety of staff with 100 full time and over 1,000 part time staff who are all working to support students. The A.S. office is open to everyone to stop by.
  10. Aztec Student Union Board (ASUB): There have been three A.S. events so far which have all been successful. On Sunday and next Wednesday there will be Aztec Nights events. Interviews for the Greenfest Chair will be held tomorrow. 
  11.  Community Service Commission (CSC): The first CSC meeting will be tomorrow and they are working on attracting more student interest. 
  12. Campus Community Commission (CCC): The first meeting today went well. CCC would like to plan a Good Neighbor event with CSC. 
  13. Recreation and Wellness Commission: Next week will be the first meeting. Working on tabling to get more students involved. 
  14. Student Diversity Commission (SDC):SDC is trying to get in touch with all the presidents of cultural RSO's and cultural centers to get them involved with SDC and create even more collaborations. 
  15. Student Support Commission (SSC): Economic Crisis Response Team (ECRT) and the Food Pantry will be giving presentations at SSC within the next two weeks and the meetings are open to all students. 
  16. GreenLove/Sustainability Commission: The next Green Lunch Bag series will be on carbon neutrality. Working on organizing GreenLove’s sub-committees. 
  17. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large, Jasmin Zeis-Khalil: Cultural centers are starting general body meetings consisting of all the cultural centers. These will be from 11-12 p.m. starting on 9/4. 
  18. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large, Nadia Dedgeba: No report. 
  19. Marketing and Communications Commission: Had the first meeting today and the commission is working on more ideas for the monthly minute. 

IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Annie Scadron announced that AB Samahan will have their first meeting on Friday from 12-2 p.m. 
  2. Janine Ezomo announced that the Black Pre-Law Society is having a meeting on Thursday. 
  3. Kailey Quezada announced that the Tijuana Home Build will be having a meeting tomorrow.
