I.  CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Executive Vice President, Meena Alexander, called the meeting to order at 3:32 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.

II.  ROLL CALL

VI.  UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

  1. SDSU Vice President of Student Affairs Designee, Dr. Randy Timm:
    1. There was excellent engagement at the past Aztec Nights events.
    2. The tailgating policies at the Snapdragon Stadium are fluid and still changing.  If you have attended a tailgate, please give input on how to improve. 
    3. The mask mandate on campus has extended until October 7.

VII.  ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action):
    It was moved and seconded to approve the general consent agenda.

  2. Campus Governance Committees - Beth Bridges, A.S. Shared Governance Assistant (Information)
    Beth Bridges, A.S. Shared Governance Assistant, presented on shared governance and the various campus committees that engage in shared governance.  The leaders had an opportunity to complete a Google Form to gauge interest in various University Senate Committees. 
  3. Selection of the A.S. C.L.C. Members for the Vacancy Ad-Hoc Committee (Action): 
    It was moved and seconded to approve Robson Winter (main) and Tarek Morsy (alternate) on the Vacancy Ad-Hoc Committee to select the Elections Coordinator, Student Support Commission Representative, and Community Service Commission Representative.

VIII.  REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Meena Alexander, Executive Vice President:
    1. The Homecoming application is now open.
    2. RSO walkarounds are occurring so please sign up. 
    3. YMHM applications are due on September 16.
    4. There is an ARC event on October 7 please RSVP. 
    5. Please inform Meena if you have not set up a one on one with her yet.
    6. Please RSVP for the University House event. 
  2. Shawki Moore, President:
    1. CSUnity happened last weekend for the Executive board.
    2. There is a University Leaders Reception next Wednesday (9/21).
    3. Shared Governance Resolution: a document could be sent to the SDSU President, all 23 CSU Presidents, and the CSU Chancellor. 
  3. Robson Winter, Vice President of External Relations:
    1. CLC members are invited to attend or volunteer at Rock the Vote events to help students register to vote
    2. The Constitution Day event was successful.
    3. Social media is going well, there was a lot of student interest in Alicia Keys concert ticket give away which increased the Instagram follower count. 
    4. Please take any CSU Wide Advocacy ideas to Robson. 
  4. Sophia Koch, Vice President of Financial Affairs:
    1. FAC is approving funding for RSOs. 
    2. Aztec Rock Hunger dates are set.
    3. Since SDSU is a part of the CSU system, all SDSU students have access to all CSU food pantries.
  5. Sandy Mekany, Vice President of University Affairs:
    1. The first UC meeting was last Wednesday, and the representatives were very engaged.
    2. Students were able to submit their interest in the University Senate committees. 
    3. Second UAB meeting and the rebranding of Your Voice Matters was discussed, there were also a lot of YVM submissions. 
    4. Shared Governance Resolution is being worked on in UAB.
    5. The college council retreat will be held on October 1.  
  6. Mayah Taylor, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  7. Bianca Shaw, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  8. Ava Grell, ASBOD Student-At-Large: No report. 
  9. Christina Brown, Executive Director: 
    1. Everyone is doing great for the first meeting. 
    2. The October 7 event will launch the AS Alumni Affinity chapter so please RSVP. 
  10. Aztec Student Union Board (ASUB):
    1. ASUB events are in full swing, there are a few upcoming events this weekend and next. Look at the ASUB Instagram for more information. 
    2. There was a discussion on adapting the gender neutral bathrooms on the first floor of the union to be stalled bathrooms due to safety concerns. 
  11.  Community Service Commission (CSC):
    1. The representative application is still open. 
    2. There will be no meeting next Tuesday, there will be a blood drive instead, reach out to Charlie for information about the blood drive. 
    3. Thank you to those who came to the food pantry training. 
  12. Campus Community Commission (CCC): 
    1. Good Neighbor Clean Ups will be once a month. 
    2. CCC met with the Chief Greg Murphy, where they talked about safety, and increasing patrol beyond in-person efforts. 
    3. Working on MTS Passes and identifying targeted groups for free passes in the future.
    4. The first CCC meeting had a really good turnout of 1st-year students.
    5. CCC would enjoy having a representative from all commissions. 
  13. Recreation and Wellness Commission:
    1. Rec and Wellness will be pushing the Your Mental Health Matters campaign.
    2. There will be tabling at the ARC to (1) recruit and (2) get feedback on the ARC. 
    3. C&PS programming is put around the union. 
    4. Mark is working to get all SDSU students to activate their ARC membership, we have about 85%. 
    5. September 29, 7-10 p.m. the Adapted Athletics will be having a wheelchair basketball game. 
  14. Student Diversity Commission (SDC):
    1. There are 6-7 new voting members.
    2. There were really meaningful and impactful discussions with members at the last meeting.
    3. SDC is working to have conversations about campus security discussion, specially campus safety at night for organizations who meet later in the evening. 
    4. Title 9 office will be presenting in an SDC meeting soon.
  15. Student Support Commission (SDC):
    1. The food pantry has a significant increase in students visiting the food pantry, there will be targeted food pantry volunteer training, there needs to be more student volunteers. 
    2. There is an open SSC representative position. 
    3. The Commuter Student Board does not have a chair, SSC is looking to help revive the board, currently looking for new members. The chair application is also open. 
  16. Green Love/Sustainability Commission:
    1. The monthly themes this month will be Climate Change and LatinX Heritage Month.
    2. San Diego Principles of Sustainability Goals are written.
      The ongoing event scheduled is the green lunch bag series next Monday in the union.
    3. There are three ongoing projects: the Trash Diversion project, Sustainable Investment project, and the Transportation project.  
  17. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large: 
    1. Many students have been thankful for the professional development programs SDSU’s campus has to offer. 
    2. Students have expressed interest in a more extensive alcohol responsibility training. 
  18. Marketing and Communications Commission:
    1. First three meetings had great attendance and a lot of first year students.
    2. The Monthly Minutes campaign is coming up. 
    3. CLC commissioners have been invited to contact Jade with any marketing needs they have. 

IX.  ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Leanne: Dance Marathon is happening, please reach out to get engaged. 
  2. Lauren: Chabad Dinner at Hillel on Friday.
  3. Phillip: Student Success Fee (SSF) application is now open and closes on October 24. 
  4. Tarek: ‘In the Mix’ is the first DJ club at SDSU, encouraging members to get involved. 
  5. Noah: The LatinX Student Union had its first general body meeting. Asian Pacific Student Alliance (APSA) has a social this upcoming Friday.  Finally the Native Resource Center will be hosting a healing circle event. 
  6. Meena: Encouraged members to engage in a self care act this week. 
  7. Bianca: If anyone needs a 360 photo booth, it is encouraged to use her company.
  8. Shawki: Kappas are having a bowling event this evening, everyone was encouraged to stop by.
