I.  CALL TO ORDER

A.S. Executive Vice President, Karina Esteban called the meeting to order at 3:31 p.m. PT.

II.  ROLL CALL

III.  APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

It was moved and seconded to approve the Campus Life Council agenda of 2/2/22.

IV.  APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MINUTES

It was moved and seconded to approve the previous minutes.

V.  PUBLIC COMMENT - None.

VI.  UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

  1. SDSU Vice President of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee: Dr. Andrea Dooley reported on the following: 
    1. Very happy to be in-person again.
    2. Career Fair is today, and there will be a virtual Career Fair tomorrow.
      Quest for the Best, annual award ceremony by Student Affairs and Campus Diversity, applications are available and are due on February 14.    
    3. SDSU Leadership Summit is coming up and if you would like to attend, RSVPs are due on February 15.
    4. Provided an SDSU COVID vaccination and mask update.

VII.  ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action): 
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda.

VIII.  REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Aztec Student Union Board (ASUB): Provided an update regarding a space proposal in the student union, provided an update on operations and upcoming ASUB events on campus.

  2. Campus Community Commission (CCC): Finalizing Good Neighbor communications for the residence halls.  Hosting a community clean-up event on March 20 with academic organizations. 

  3. Community Service Commission (CSC): Working with Monarch School for donations, visibility awareness with the Student Ability Success Center, collaboration with Green Love, Random Acts of Kindness, and a possible blood drive on April 4.

  4. Recreation and Wellness Commission:  Provided an update regarding the basketball courts. Adapted Athletics will be invited to the next meeting.

  5. Student Diversity Commission (SDC): Working on an internal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion plan.

  6. Student Support Commission (SSC): The Economic Crisis Response Team (ECRT) advocate training is on 2/27 from 1:30-4 p.m.  The SDSU Farmer’s Market is coming back this week and the Food Pantry will have a table there.

  7. Sustainability/Green Love Commission: There will be Green Love Bag Services regarding environmental justice.  Will have an “I Love a Clean San Diego” event in the Union Theatre.  Working on the Sustainability Center.  We will have an open forum regarding the alternative consultation fee for the sustainability and tech fee at a Green Love meeting.

  8. Student-at-Large Campus Representatives:  Your Voice Matters Push Week was a virtual event and had a social media presence.

  9. Marketing and Communications Committee: Planning to promote the A.S. elected applications deadline and planning on having the spirit cart to get students to vote.

  10. Board of Directors Students-at-Large:  
    Ari reminded everyone to attend an SDSU Career Fair.

  11. Executive Vice President: Karina reported on the following:

    1. Aztec Achievement Awards nominations will open this Friday. 

  12. President:  Ashley Tejada reported on the following:

     

      1. The alternative consultation open forum will be at the A.S. All Council meeting next week in Montezuma Hall.  Please attend.

      2. Attended the Strategic Plan Activity 8 & 13, met with President de la Torre, and am   meeting with Imperial Valley student leaders.
        Provided an update regarding the Graduate Life and Diversity Center.

  13. Vice President of External Relations: Shawki reported on the following:

    1. Secretary of State, Dr. Shirley Weber, will be on campus for a Voter Rights panel.

    2. California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS) applications are due on Sunday.

  14. Vice President of Financial Affairs: Austin Barber reported on the following:

    1. Congratulations to Agnes Wong Nickerson for being the new Vice President of Business and Financial Affairs.

    2. Working on student travel policies at the Financial Affairs Committee.
      FAC approved a Green Fest request towards the concert for students.

  15. Vice President of University Affairs: Jennifer Schenkenfelder reported on the following:

    1. There are some faculty members who are not going back in-person.
      Stefan Hyman attended the first University Council meeting to review an update regarding the course waitlist.

    2. Your Voice Matters Push Week was from 1/31 through 2/4.

    3. Holding office hours on Mondays from 10-11 a.m.

  16. Executive Director:  Christina Brown reported on the following:

    1. We are here to assist with any questions that you may have.  Great job in all of our commissions.

IX.  ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Ignite SDSU will be having a panel event on February 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
