A.S. Executive Vice President, Bella Martelino called the meeting to order at 3:34 p.m.

V.  PUBLIC COMMENT:

Darren Wilson, Justice from A.S. Judicial Affairs Council, made a public comment regarding the JAC Buddy System.  He introduced himself to the Campus Life Council Commissioners.  

VI.  UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

  1. SDSU Vice President of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity Designee: Dr. Andrea Dooley reported on the following:
    1. There are presentations occurring regarding mental health resources.  We are happy to attend any Council meeting or recognized student organization (RSO) meetings.  
    2. For those travelling for the holidays, we are encouraging students to be tested prior to any travel.  There are test sites on campus, including Student Health Services and the County test site at the Alumni Center.  Students travelling and coming back to the residence halls are required to test next week.

VIII.  REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Aztec Student Union Board (ASUB):  There is a Cooking with Chefs collaboration with the Native American Student Association. There are more events in the remaining weeks of the semester, like Live with a Leader, Nooner, and Chill with Bob Ross.  Thanks for all the support!   All our virtual events are approved for next semester and looking into hybrid events.  
  2. Campus Community Commission (CCC): We are working on peer-to-peer education videos regarding COVID, website updates, and focusing on wrapping up the semester.  Met with Christian regarding campus safety ideas.
  3. Community Service Commission (CSC): This week is ‘Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Week’.  Please share!  
  4. Recreation and Wellness Commission: ENS classes from the Mission Bay Aquatic Center (MBAC) are available for registration.  ARC Indoors is closed due to the purple tier status of San Diego County.  ARC Outdoors and virtual programs continue.  Sign up for the Turkey Trot.   
  5. Student Diversity Commission (SDC): The SDC DEI Climate Survey is finalized.  Will come out soon.  The second annual student leader mixer is today at 5:00 p.m.
  6. Student Support Commission (SSC): SDSU Resource Guide is the official name of the guide we are working on.  We finished filming the Economic Crisis Response Team (ECRT) video.  The ECRT Advocate Training is tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. We are working on the Student Ability Success Center resource video.  The SDSU Children’s Center Board is having an interactive event regarding self-care for parents.
  7. Sustainability/Green Love Commission:  We will be voting on the MTS project next week.  We have a new outreach position who has been reaching out to the Identity Centers on campus.  We are putting together a zero-waste plan.  Working on more bike racks outside the new Aztec Recreation Center.  
  8. Campus Life Council Students-at-Large:  Coffee chats will start in the spring semester.  Assisting with Mental Health Week.  Want to promote SDSU basketball games.  Have a concern about the street lights being inoperable on Dorothy and Mary Lanes and would love to work with all to help solve this safety issue.
  9. Marketing and Communications Commission: None.
  10. Board of Directors Student-at-Large:  
    1. Ashley is sitting on Activity 45 Strategic Plan regarding equity gaps.  Enjoys the collaboration with the faculty/staff.  Shared governance at SDSU is valued.  Attended the University Senate meeting and was able to voice opinion about spring break. 
  11. Executive Vice President: Bella Martelino reported on the following:
    1. Homecoming: Congratulations to the Homecoming Royals, Daria and Antonio! 
  12. President:  Christian Holt reported on the following:
    1. 12/2 is the All-Council Meeting regarding the history of Aztec identity.
    2. 12/1 is the University Senate meeting to vote on important items.
    3. The last round of Student Success Fee proposals is this Friday.
    4. The Credit/No Credit policy that passed in University Senate includes the Golden Four courses: oral communication, written communication, critical thinking and math.
    5. Please attend the student leader mixer at 5:00 p.m. 
    6. Congratulations to the Homecoming Royals!
  13. Vice President of External Relations: Armando Sepulveda reported on the following:
    1. Working on a policy agenda at External Relations Board for financial and rental protections for college students.  We are able to include the street light issue as part of the advocacy.  Will be meeting with Councilmember Sean Elo after he is sworn in.
  14. Vice President of Financial Affairs: Victor Penera reported on the following:
    1. Financial Affairs Committee (FAC):  We have policy changes for Campus Program Funding (CPF) and student organization funding.  We are presenting at student organization meetings and College Councils.  We are updating the website with the policy changes.
    2. Attended a Supporting Students Basic Needs webinar for the Food and Housing Awareness Week.
    3. There is a California Higher Education Basic Needs Alliance (CHEBNA) student resource guide to review.
    4. We had a request to speak about Aztec Rocks Hunger.
    5. Will have updates on  the A.S. Study Abroad Scholarship soon.
  15. Vice President of University Affairs: Crystal Sanchez reported on the following:
    1. Credit/No Credit extension date for students passed at the last University Senate meeting.
    2. There is a new proposal for Spring Break that will be voted on at  the 12/1 University Senate meeting.
    3. Your Voice Matters ‘push’ week is this week!
  16. Executive Director: No report.
