I. CALL TO ORDER

Executive Vice President Nickolas Wohlman called the meeting to order at 3:37 PM.

It was moved and seconded to approve the agenda of September 5, 2018.

VI. PUBLIC COMMENT

-

  1. Thomas Hoffstetter, representative from the Student Veteran Organization, invited the student leaders to the SDSU War Memorial Ceremony during Homecoming week as well as the event on Veteran’s Day honoring veterans and family members.
  2. Javier Gomez reported that there is an opportunity for a paid internship with Assemblymember Todd Gloria.
  3. Sydney Olagary, representative from the Gallo Wine Company, reported that there are full time positions post-graduation as well as other summer internship opportunities available.

VII. UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

  1. SDSU Vice President of Student Affairs Designee, Dr. Randy Timm: None.

VIII.   ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

IX. REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Nickolas Wohlman, Executive Vice President:
    1. The Aztec Game Experience meeting will take place in the Fowler Athletic Center on Friday from 3-4 pm.
    2. The Homecoming committee will meet on Friday at 9-10 pm in Council Chambers.
    3. Encouraged members to attend the football game on Saturday.
    4. The Red and Black Shuttle is up and running!
  2. Chris Thomas, President:
    1. There will be a Mission Valley All Council Training next week at 3:30 pm.
    2. Encouraged members to reach out to the Recognized Student Organizations to collaborate.
    3. The Provost search begins on October 25.
    4. There will be a website created for the Freedom of Expression.
    5. Eric Rivera will retire on December 12. The Interim Vice President for Student Affairs will be Christy Samarkos.
  3. Michael Wiafe, Vice President of External Relations:
    1. Working on the “Rock the Vote” campaign.
    2. External Relations Board will meet on Mondays at 10 am in Council Chambers.
    3. Lobby Corps. will meet Wednesdays at 10 am in Council Chambers.
  4. Christian Onwuka, Vice President of Financial Affairs:
    1. Excited for the Aztecs Rock Hunger campaign.
    2. Will work on marketing the resources regarding funding for organizations to students.
    3. Financial Affairs Committee will be on Mondays at 11 am.
  5. Ronnie Cravens, Vice President of University Affairs:
    1. Attended the University Senate meeting and Dean Search committee.
    2. Will work with Anya to fill University Senate committees.
    3. “Your Voice Matters” campaign will continue. University Affairs Board will meet Tuesday, September 11, at 11 am.
    4. Excited for the first University Council meeting next Wednesday.
  6. Cat Kricorian, ASBOD Student-at-Large: 
    1. Will facilitate goals of the boards and commissions.
    2. Serving on the “Aztec Rock Hunger” and “Rock the Vote” teams.
    3. Excited to serve on the Union Beautification Committee.
    4. Will work with Ryan and Steve on the marketing committee.
  7. Beck Svensson, ASBOD Student-at-Large:
    1. Will meet with respective committee and chairs.
    2. Will work to increase advising on campus.
  8. Chloe Sabio, ASBOD Student-at-Large:
    1. Extended herself as a resource to boards and commissions.
    2. Will work on the “Aztecs Rock Hunger” and “Rock the Vote” campaigns.
  9. Christina Brown, Executive Director:
    1. Christy Samarkos will be the Interim Vice President of Student Affairs for a year.
    2. Excited for Campus Life Council!
  10. Aztec Student Union Board:
    1. Discussed their goal to increase collaboration within ASUB.
    2. Would like to fill the representative positions for better communication.
  11. Campus Community Commission:
    1. Campus Safety Week will be September 18-21.
    2. Will work with the community with their complaints.
    3. Will create a set mission.
  12. Community Service Commission:
    1. Will recruit volunteers for “Aztecs Rock Hunger”
    2. The Service Based Organization Expo will be September 25 from 11am-2pm on Centennial Walkway.
  13. Recreation and Wellness Commission:
    1. Gave an update on their eight dimensions of wellness. Will work with Nick on a Mental Health week.
  14. Student Diversity Commission:
    1. Student Diversity Celebration will take place on November 29 from 4-8 pm to promote diversity.
    2. Will hold others accountable for creating a welcoming environment.
    3. There will be a welcome back celebration tomorrow from 4-5:30 pm in the Aquaplex.
    4. Meetings will be Thursdays in Council Chambers at 3:30 pm.
  15. Student Support Commission:
    1. Discussed their goals to expand legal services.
    2. Will look for an A.S. Food Pantry Lead position.
    3. Free headshots are available at the Backdoor Media studio.
  16. Sustainability Commission:
    1. Excited for the Swap shop!
    2. Will look to fill representative positions.
  17. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large:
    1. Looking forward to support boards and commissions this semester.
  18. Marketing and Communications Commission:
    1. Discussed marketing strategies for the semester.
    2. Will make sure students understand the available resources.
    3. Will brainstorm ideas to market the ARH and Rock the Vote campaign.
