I. CALL TO ORDER

Executive Vice President Vanessa Girard called the meeting to order at 3:37 PM.

IV.  APPROVAL OF AGENDA

It was moved and seconded to approve the agenda of February 28, 2018.

There was a friendly amendment to remove University Reports and Presentations Item B. Educational Opportunity Programs Presentation and to add the Recreation and Wellness Presentation with a Time Certain for 3:45 pm. There were no objections. 

The agenda was approved as amended.      CARRIED      

V.  APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MINUTES

It was moved and seconded to approve the previous minutes.

VI.  Public Comment

  1. Jennifer Esquivel-Parker reminded members that the deadline to submit commissioner applications is Monday, April 11. They will be approved at the Judicial Affairs Council meeting on April 23. Interview for Commissioners will need to take place the week of April 16. Please send her interview questions by April 3.

  2. Letty Hernandez, A.S. Office Supervisor, informed members of instructions to review A.S. Study Abroad Scholarships. Please return the reviewed scholarship applications by Wednesday, April 14 

  3. Kim Alli, Chief Justice, reminded members to submit their council duties by March 23 by 4 pm. The deadline to turn in the Aztec Achievement Award nominations was extended to midnight tonight.

 VII.      UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

  1.  SDSU Vice President of Student Affairs Designee, Randy Timm:
    1. A Social Moratorium was placed by the Interfraternity Council this past week to address alcohol related events and educational activities. Further discussion will occur regarding this topic.
  2. Recreation and Wellness Presentation (Time Certain 3:45 pm):
    1. Mary Staka and George Scott discussed their lessons learned from the past semester and explained changes that occurred to enhance their partnership within the organization.

    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda, as attached.

IX. REPORTS OF CAMPUS LIFE COUNCIL MEMBERS

  1. Vanessa Girard, Executive Vice President:
    1. The applications for Aztec Achievement Awards will close tonight at midnight.
    2. Encouraged members to attend Explore SDSU on Saturday, March 17 from 8 am- 3 pm.
    3. Informed members of the Red and Black Shuttle Proposal to provide a transportation system for students. One-time costs include the phone application, GPS equipment, and Ford transit. Recurring costs will include the fuel, maintenance, monthly GPS costs, and student salaries. There will be amenities provided in the shuttle that include an educational component and Red ID scanning system.
  2. Chimezie Ebiriekwe, President:
    1. The New Registration Timeline team will table in the Union.
    2. We were very sorry to learn of the passing of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Mehrabadi, today.
  3.  Carmel Alon, Vice President of External Relations:
    1. The California for Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS) was a success! Students met with seventeen legislators and will follow up about their respective discussions. Attended a press conference with Senator Glazer to support a fully funded CSU.
    2. Will continue preparing for the “Rock the Vote” events.
  4. Hayden Willis, Vice President of Financial Affairs: 
    1. Discussed Financial Affairs Committee rebudgets. Rebudgets will be completed on March 21.
    2. Met with Dr. Dooley to discuss a financial literacy course.
  5. Chris Thomas, Vice President of University Affairs:

  6. Brie Hornig, ASBOD Student-at-Large:
    1. Will work with Dr. Stark on the Student of Color conference.
    2. Spoke with students who are interested in applying for Associated Students appointed seats
  7. Josh Miller, ASBOD Student-at-Large:
    1. Encouraged members to notify students of the commissioner application deadline.
  8. Anya Shutovska, ASBOD Student-at-Large:

  9. Christina Brown, Executive Director:
    1. GreenLove will host a clothes drive on April 23. All collaboration with them is welcome.
  10. Aztec Student Union Board:
    1. Open Mic Night will be Thursday in the Courtyard.
    2. They will show “Star Wars” for the Monday Night Movie in the Theatre.
  11. Campus Community Commission:
    1. Will meet with IF to discuss the educational component of the Social Moratorium that will take place in the residence hall.
    2. Will collaborate with Community Service Commission for the Good Neighbor Cleanup on Sunday at 10 am in the Courtyard.
    3. Campus Safety Week will be April 2-6. Encouraged others to attend events.
  12. Community Service Commission:
    1. Community Service fair was a success. Grateful for the 23 non-profit organizations and student organizations who attended.
    2. Connor Curley will be Beck’s designee for Community Service Representative.
  13. Recreation and Wellness Commission:
    1. Will focus on Live Well Aztecs Week.
  14. Student Diversity Commission:
    1. SDC retreat was a success.
    2. Will complete the “Thank You for Being My Teacher” presentations.
    3. Informed members of upcoming social events.
      1. “Q is You” will be on Monday from 7-9 pm in the Pride Center.
      2. M.E.Ch.A will host an event on April 11 from 5-7 pm in Templo Mayor.
      3. There will be a self-care practice event on April 26 from 6:30-8:30 pm.
      4. The Student of Color conference will be April 18.
      5. A diversity event will take place on Monday, April 19.
  15. Student Support Commission:
    1. Meet the ombudsman event is be postponed to after spring break.
    2. Will schedule another Food Pantry training.
  16. Sustainability Commission:
    1. There will be a Chicano park event on April 21st.
    2. Yoga Festival will take place from 11-3 in the Farmer’s market next Wednesday followed by the Green Lunch Bag Series at 2 pm.
    3. Charlotte reported that CHESS was an incredible experience.
    4. Sabrina is at the “This Way to Sustainability” conference.
  17. Campus Life Council Student-at-Large:
    1. Will follow up with commissions regarding binders or digital options to transition commissioners and representatives.
  18. Marketing and Communications Commission:
    1. Will spirit cart for A.S. elections.
    2. Will work on marketing efforts for the “Rock the Vote” campaign and campus safety week.
