- Business and Financial Affairs Designee Jessica Rentto reported on the following: SDSU recently hosted a “Making Strides Against Cancer” Walk in Mission Valley with around 15,000 walkers participating, including student organizations, and it turned out successful. On November 12th, there will be an annual night walk with the Safety Committee around campus where students, faculty, and staff will examine lighting and safety issues. As far as Halloween weekend is concerned, there was a brush fire and incident regarding a shooting. After-action meetings are conducted to evaluate the pros and cons of the university’s execution of procedures and as this was the first lockdown implemented on campus, much was learned from the event.
- University President’s Designee Brittany Santos-Derieg reported on the following: SDSU was named among the best institutions for promoting international scholarships. 109 individuals including students and faculty received Fulbrights in 2024 and more than 80% of students were from underrepresented backgrounds. Recently, a full budget memo was received from the CSU Chancellor’s Office indicating an 8% cut under the California government and the university is currently gauging student leader, faculty, and staff input to determine the strategic allocation of funds.
