I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. President Tarek Morsy called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m. 

II. ROLL CALL

III. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA 

It was moved and seconded to approve the agenda for April 15, 2024 with the A.S. 2023 Federal and State Tax Review tabled.

VI. PRESENTATIONS AND UNIVERSITY REPORTS

  1. Business and Financial Affairs Designee, Jessica Rentto, reported on the following: Welcomed everyone back from spring break. Students should have received an email encouraging them to participate in the bi-annual sexual violence climate survey. 
  2. University President’s Designee, Brittany Santos-Derieg, reported on the following: None

  1. Proposed A.S. Bylaws, Code, and Charter Amendments (Information) - Victor Plunkett, A.S. Chief Justice (Time Certain 3:35 p.m.)

    Victor reviewed the proposed amendments to the A.S. Bylaws.

  2. A.S. 2023 Federal and State Tax Review (Action) - Carlos Careaga, A.S. Finance Director (Time Certain 4 p.m.)
    The A.S. 2023 Federal and State Tax Review was proposed until the 4/29 meeting.

     

  3. General Consent Agenda (Action)
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda.

IX. EXECUTIVE REPORTS

  1. A.S. President, Tarek Morsy: Preparing to transition to the new A.S. President and assist in continuing long term goals and initiatives. Tarek Morsy and Ally Gallant enjoyed speaking at the AI Summit. Reviewed the findings during the AI Summit, campus wide AI survey, and what the IT department’s next steps in AI are. 
  2. Executive Vice President, Sam Lingao: Thanked everyone who helped with Explore SDSU. Next Thursday is the Aztec Achievement Awards. The final Campus Life Council meeting will be this week. There is a discount markdown event in the SDSU Bookstore on Tuesday that the Executive board will be at. The final All Council will be 5/1. 
  3. Vice President of External Relations, Melvin Ridley III: Recently returned from Washington DC where he advocated for different policy issues like DACA expansion and the expansion of Pell Grant. Preparing transitions and the incoming Vice President of External Relations. The KCR general manager and Daily Aztec editor in chief have both been selected. 
  4. Vice President of Financial Affairs, Leo Pena: ‘Thursdays Together’ will be Chipotle. Meeting with Ramona Perez to finalize logistics of how students will apply to the Oaxaca scholarship grant from Associated Students. The Financial Affairs committee has been reviewing and approving consolidated rebudget for different councils, commissions, and facilities. 
  5. Vice President of University Affairs, Ally Gallant: The vacancy applications have closed yesterday, thankfully each vacant position has been applied for. Various college councils are holding executive board elections. At the next University Council meeting Stefan Hymen will be presenting about graduation. 
  6. Executive Director, Christina Brown: Wrapping up the semester. Veronica Pedrodi has found a new position and there will be a going away party to celebrate her on Wednesday morning. Appointment interviews for the Board of Directors and Judicial Affairs Council will begin next week. The next Board of Director meeting will be somewhat longer due to the budget presentations. 

X. BOARD OF DIRECTOR STUDENT AT LARGE REPORTS

  1. Student-at-Large, Kailey Quezada: The DEI Climate survey edits have been made and the finishing touches are being completed. A.S. representatives should be receiving the survey within the next couple weeks. 
  2. Student-at-Large, Gianna Salazar: No report.
  3. Student-at-Large, Derrick Herrera: No report. 
  4. Student-at-Large, Patricio Silva: No report. 
  5. Student-at-Large, Palni Bhatt: No report. 
  6. Student-at-Large, Alex Inglis: Making progress on creating an SDSU license plate. 

XI. ANNOUNCEMENTS 

  1. Sam Lingao announced that the next Cooking with Chefs event will be Southwest Asian and North African inspired.
