I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. President Tarek Morsy called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m.

III. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

It was moved and seconded to approve the agenda for February 19, 2024.

VII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. Quarterly Financial Review (Information) - Carlos Careaga, A.S. Finance Director (Time Certain 3:45 p.m.)  
     The Quarterly Financial Review was reviewed. 
  2. General Consent Agenda (Action)
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda.

IX. EXECUTIVE REPORTS

  1. A.S. President, Tarek Morsy: There are two very important Career Advantage events on 2/20 and 3/6. Please attend and market the events to other students. Please come to the A.S. office on Friday 2/23 to engage with Imperial Valley campus representatives. 
  2. Executive Vice President, Sam Lingao:.The Career Advantage event on 2/20 is named “Courtside Chats with Recent Alumni”.  Please attend. The event has been moved to Montezuma Hall due to rain. On Friday, Imperial Valley A.S. representatives will be visiting and touring campus. The Aztec Achievement Award nomination applications are open. Please consider applying for yourself or others. Looking for students to attend an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit that San Diego State University is hosting. 
  3. Vice President of External Relations, Melvin Ridley III: The Rock the Vote Vote-a-Palooza event had around 200 attendees. The California State Student Association (CSSA) Plenary was engaging this week and there is a draft of a resolution being worked on regarding a ceasefire in Gaza. Today is the last day to register to vote in California. 
  4. Vice President of Financial Affairs, Leo Pena: No report. 
  5. Vice President of University Affairs, Ally Gallant: The University Council is currently going through the resolution process and the second reading will be this Wednesday. Your Voice Matters push week will be on 2/26-3/1. Looking to compile a list of questions for Dr. Bill Tong, Provost, to be prepared for a meeting with all college deans to talk about career advancement. 
  6. Executive Director, Christina Brown: No report.

X. BOARD OF DIRECTOR STUDENT AT LARGE REPORTS

  1. Student-at-Large, Kailey Quezada: Working with Dr. Emilio Ulloa and Christina Brown to make progress on revising the seventh institutional learning outcome. 
  2. Student-at-Large, Gianna Salazar: No report.
  3. Student-at-Large, Derrick Herrera: No report.
  4. Student-at-Large, Patricio Silva: Working with the Student Support Commission to promote and market the resource guide they have been developing. 
  5. Student-at-Large, Palni Bhatt: No report.
  6. Student-at-Large, Alex Inglis: No report.

XI. ANNOUNCEMENTS 

  1. Sam Lingao announced that GreenFest tickets are now available. 

  2. Ally Gallant handed out postcards to send to the Pride Center because they have been receiving hate mail. 

  3. Melvin Ridley III mentioned the hate crime that recently occurred on campus and inquired about connecting with the victim.
