I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. President Tarek Morsy called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m.

II. ROLL CALL

VI. PRESENTATIONS AND UNIVERSITY REPORTS

  1. Business and Financial Affairs Designee, Jessica Rentto, reported on the following: No report. 
  2. University President’s Designee, Brittany Santos-Derieg, reported on the following: The California Faculty Association (CFA) has emailed university administration to inform them about negotiations between CFA and the California State University system. CFA has announced a four day strike from December 4-7th but there were only four specific campuses chosen as strike locations (SF State, Cal Poly Pomona, Long Beach State, Sacramento State), and San Diego State has not been chosen to hold a strike. The Tradesters contract is still in unknown territory.There have also been updates to chairs for the California Assembly that will work directly with San Diego State to lobby for legislation that positively impacts students.

  4. A.S. Staff Compensation Adjustments (Action) - Patty Rea, A.S. Associate Executive Director (Time Certain 3:45 p.m.)
    It was moved and seconded to approve the A.S. Staff Compensation Adjustments.

  5. A.S. Consolidated Fall Rebudget (Information) - Carlos Careaga, A.S. Finance Director (Time Certain 4 p.m.)
     The A.S. Consolidated Fall Rebudget was presented and reviewed.

VIII. EXECUTIVE REPORTS 

  1. A.S. President, Tarek Morsy: Working closely with Daniel Newell, the Executive Director of Career Services, to continue developing Career Advantage. There will be a Career Advantage Board meeting on Wednesday. Over the holiday break, Tarek had a meeting with university administrators about the safety concerns on campus. 
  2. Executive Vice President, Sam Lingao: Working with the Green Love Commission on GreenFest as well as preparing for the Aztec Achievement Awards and the Career Advantage speaker series. There has been a proposal for a resolution regarding the Palestine conflict for the spring semester and the executive officers are working closely with relevant student organizations. 
  3. Vice President of External Relations, Melvin Ridley III: The event with Sean Elo-Rivera was successful today. A.S. Lobby Corps is preparing for the California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS), the application closes on Wednesday and interviews will occur shortly after. The External Relations Board is preparing for the 2024 elections as they will be relevant to students in Spring 2024. 
  4. Vice President of Financial Affairs, Leo Pena: The Aztecs Rock Hunger reveal will be on January 22nd now due to scheduling conflicts. 
  5. Vice President of University Affairs, Ally Gallant: Kevin Cartilage came to the University Affairs Board to recap Spring semester registration. On Friday there will be a moral event for the University Affairs Board at Cowles Mountain. The SDSU Library will have various promotions for distress during finals week. The E-gaming center has been opened. Working to promote Your Voice Matters through the Marketing and Communications Commission. 
  6. Executive Director, Christina Brown: There has been another unsafe incident in the student union and full-time as well as part-time staff are feeling unsafe. Christina Brown is working to ensure safety of all Union staff. 

IX. BOARD OF DIRECTOR STUDENT AT LARGE REPORTS

  1. Student-at-Large, Kailey Quezada: Working closely with the Student Diversity Committee on InclusiveSDSU. Dr.Taylor from Inclusive SDSU attended the last Student Diversity Committee meeting and the conversation went really well. 
  2. Student-at-Large, Gianna Salazar: Participating in the Green Love Commission’s events, attended the beach clean up event that occurred before Thanksgiving break. Went to a Students for Justice in Palestine event to hear the history and concerns of Palestinian students following the large amounts of public comments seen in other councils. 
  3. Student-at-Large, Derrick Herrera: No report. 
  4. Student-at-Large, Patricio Silva: No report.
  5. Student-at-Large, Palni Bhatt: No report. 
  6. Student-at-Large, Alex Inglis: No report.
