I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. President Tarek Morsy called the meeting to order at 3:36 p.m. 

II. ROLL CALL

III. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

It was moved and seconded to approve the agenda for November 13, 2023.

  1. Business and Financial Affairs Designee, Jessica Rentto, reported on the following: No report.

VII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION 

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action)
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda.

    The General Consent Report was reviewed. 
  3. Addressing Safety Concerns on Campus (Information)
    Tarek led a discussion regarding safety concerns on campus.

VIII. EXECUTIVE REPORTS

  1. A.S. President, Tarek Morsy: Addressing the safety concerns with the relevant campus partners. Trying to connect students with resources, like Inclusive SDSU and the University Police Department (UPD). Career Advantage is starting to form an advisory committee. 
  2. Executive Vice President, Sam Lingao: Met with Student Diversity Commission (SDC) leaders, Janine and Annie, to reaffirm the promotion of Inclusive SDSU. Mary Taylor is going to SDC this week. Ensuring that the CLC commissions are supported culturally and academically. SDSU Homecoming ended and we are looking for ways to incorporate A.S. into Homecoming. Working to promote Career Advantage offerings for next semester. 
  3. Vice President of External Relations, Melvin Ridley III: On 11/29, San Diego City Council President for District 9, Sean Elo-Rivera, is coming to present about his position and how he impacts the College Area, wanting to get students involved in outreach to local council members. Rock the Vote (RTV) initiative has continued to push material. Preparing for next semester, because election time will be during spring semester. Wanting to circulate a survey about this upcoming election to students. Preparing for the California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS). 
  4. Vice President of Financial Affairs, Leo Pena: The last Aztecs Rock Hunger (ARH) Leadership Team meeting was last week. Although the campaign is done, we are working to get final donations from some donors. Attended the Intercollegiate (IAC) Budget and Finance Committee meeting. Topics included reduced ticket prices and discussed parking for the games. Announcing the new head coach at a basketball game soon. Today at the Financial Affairs Committee (FAC) they talked about how to market RSO resources. 
  5. Vice President of University Affairs, Ally Gallant: Kevin Cartlidge, is part of the mysdsu team, is coming to the University Affairs Board (UAB) and will be giving an overview of how spring registration is progressing. Planning on promoting Your Voice Matters (YVM) to get more submissions. Serving on the College of Arts and Letters (CAL) Dean search committee. The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) will begin finding a new dean also. ASUC will be having a safety conversation this week also. Students will also be giving reports to the University Senate committee. University House holiday party is on 11/29 and the 12/6 A.S. celebration at BJ’s.
  6. Executive Director, Christina Brown: There is a new professional volleyball league called the San Diego Mojo and they will play at Viejas Arena. The team is owned by Carrie Walsh-Jennings and the first game will be in February. Glen Brandenburg’s retirement party is on Friday, November 17 from 5-7 p.m. in the Union Courtyard. Shout out to Leo as FAC is very engaged this year.

  1. Student-at-Large, Kailey Quezada: Hopes everyone has a good holiday break and take care of yourself,
  2. Student-at-Large, Gianna Salazar: No report.
  3. Student-at-Large, Derrick Herrera: No report. 
  4. Student-at-Large, Patricio Silva: No report.
  5. Student-at-Large, Palni Bhatt: Requirements were due on Friday, November 10.
  6. Student-at-Large, Alex Inglis: No report.
