I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. President Tarek Morsy called the meeting to order at 3:31 p.m. 

II. ROLL CALL

VI. PRESENTATIONS AND UNIVERSITY REPORT

  1. Business and Financial Affairs Designee, Jessica Rentto, reported on the following: No report. 
  2. University President’s Designee, Brittany Santos-Derieg, reported on the following: No report. 
  3. SDSU AI Student Survey Presentation - Dr. James Frazee, Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Senior Associate Vice President for Information Technology (Time Certain 3:45 p.m.)
  4. The SDSU AI Student Survey presentation was reviewed.
    Sustainability Principles - Christy Samarkos, Interim Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity (Information) - immediately after Item C.
    The Sustainability Principles were reviewed and the Board decided to review it again at the next Board of Directors meeting. 

VII. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

    The General Consent Agenda was tabled for the next A.S. Board of Directors meeting.

  3. 2022-23 Year-End Financial Highlights (Information)
    Carlos Careaga presented the 2022-2023 end of the year financial highlights. 

     

     

  4. A.S. Career Development Update - Tarek Morsy, A.S. President (Information)
    Tarek Morsy presented the plan for A.S. Careers, starting with a kick-off event on Friday, November 3, from 1-3 p.m. in the Aztec Student Union Courtyard. This event starts the initiative for A.S. to focus on career and professional development for all SDSU students.

VIII. EXECUTIVE REPORTS

  1. A.S. President, Tarek Morsy: Reaching out to various faculty and administration on campus to ensure attendance at the A.S. Careers kickoff event will be a success. Aztec Student Union Board and the Marketing and Communications Committee will be assisting in the kickoff event. 
  2. Executive Vice President, Sam Lingao: The Homecoming theme is “All Roads Lead Home”. Spoke with the students at large representatives on Campus Life Council and has assigned them to work with specific committees. This week's Thursday’s together will be L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. 
  3. Vice President of External Relations, Melvin Ridley III: Completed the Constitution Day event for Lobby Corp and External Relations board. Beginning to focus on voter registration while paying close attention to safety initiatives. On Wednesday Katie Robinson will be giving a presentation about the CSU Tuition increase. 
  4. Vice President of Financial Affairs, Leo Pena: The tabling schedule has been determined for the Aztecs Rock Hunger (ARH) initiative. ARH and SDSU Athletics will be doing a collaboration concession stand during SDSU Parents Weekend. 
  5. Vice President of University Affairs, Ally Gallant: The collaboration event with A.S. and the SDSU Library will be on October 4th and it is a Banned Book Read Aloud event on October 4. 
  6. Executive Director, Christina Brown: No report. 

IX. BOARD OF DIRECTOR STUDENT AT LARGE REPORTS

  1. Student-at-Large, Kailey Quezada: Recently with Christina Brown. The Chief Officer for the Hispanic Student Institution Board will be speaking at the next Campus Life Council meeting. Suggested that there is a report about the Student Success Fee to bring awareness to their proposal reviewal process. There will be a Pachanga in the student union courtyard to celebrate LatinX heritage month. 
  2. Student-at-Large, Gianna Salazar: Applications for Homecoming court are being finalized. 
  3. Student-at-Large, Derrick Herrera: No report. 
  4. Student-at-Large, Patricio Silva: Attended a Student Support Commission meeting and reported that it was a great meeting, encouraging the students at large to attend one meeting. 
  5. Student-at-Large, Palni Bhatt: No report. 
  6. Student-at-Large, Alex Inglis: Working with the Campus Community Commission to create an educational rideshare safety campaign. 

X. ANNOUNCEMENTS 

Aztecs Rock Hunger is posting its first Instagram post for this year's campaign.
