I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. President Tarek Morsy called the meeting to order at 3:33 p.m. 

II. ROLL CALL

It was moved and seconded to approve the agenda for September 11, 2023.

It was moved and seconded to approve the previous A.S. Board of Director minutes from August 28th.

V. PUBLIC COMMENT

Brennan Pearson is a Masters of Business Administration student and gave a public comment regarding the lack of tutoring and study resources for graduate students.

    It was moved and seconded to approve the Annual Financial Audit presentation.

  3. CSU Tuition Proposal Discussion - Melvin Ridley III, A.S. Vice President of External Relations (Information) (Time Certain, immediately after Item C.)
    A CSU Tuition Proposal Discussion was led by A.S. Vice President of External Relations Melvin Ridley III. 

VI. EXECUTIVE REPORTS

  1. A.S. President, Tarek Morsy: No report. 
  2. Executive Vice President, Sam Lingao: Working hard on SDSU’s Homecoming and she is co-chairing the Homecoming Committee. The Homecoming Court application is currently open and will close next Tuesday. Melvin and Sam are working on an A.S. Safety Initiative to address current issues the student union is facing. Continuing her work towards the mission of “ABC” by working closely with athletics and alumni. 
  3. Vice President of External Relations, Melvin Ridley III: No report. 
  4. Vice President of Financial Affairs, Leo Pena: There have been advisor meetings for the Aztec Rocks Hunger campaign, these advisors are from various departments like ECRT, Food Pantry, and Aztec Shops. 
  5. Vice President of University Affairs, Ally Gallant: Looking to increase tutoring for STEM majors and SI instruction to assist students more. This College Council retreat will be this Saturday. 
  6. Executive Director, Christina Brown: Graduate Student Association (GSA) had its first mixer event and they had around three hundred students go to the event. Nick Hodge, GSA President, is working closely with Tarek on A.S. career goals to ensure graduate students are represented. 

VII. BOARD OF DIRECTOR STUDENT AT LARGE REPORTS

  1. Student-at-Large, Kailey Quezada: As the Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Advisory Board President Kailey is wanting to make connections with A.S. and potentially having walkarounds. 
  2. Student-at-Large, Gianna Salazar: Hispanic Heritage month is beginning and Gigi is sitting on SDC to continue diversity efforts. 
  3. Student-at-Large, Derrick Herrera: Supporting Melvin and Leo on their respective projects. Trying to find a Native American student representative for the Student Diversity Committee. Sitting on the Student Grievance Committee. 
  4. Student-at-Large, Patricio Silva: The CSU Trustees award recipients were released today, recommended A.S. reaches out to SDSU’s recipient. 
  5. Student-at-Large, Palni Bhatt: A.S. Lobby Corps has a Constitution Day event on Monday. 

VIII. ANNOUNCEMENTS 

  1. Sam Lingao announced that this week’s “Thursday’s Together” will be donuts in the office from 11 a.m-1 p.m.
  2. Leo Pena announced that Aztecs Rock Hunger secured the first donation for $1,000.
