I. CALL TO ORDER

A.S. President Shawki Moore called the meeting to order at 3:39 p.m. 

II. ROLL CALL

  1. Voting Members Present: Shawki Moore, Sandy Mekany, Brandon Bartosh, Ava Grell, Grace DeVega, Ava Walker, Bianca Shaw, Jessica Rentto
  2. Voting Members Absent: Mayah Taylor, Sophia Koch, Robson Winter, Meena Alexander
  3. Non-Voting Members Present: Isabella Todd, Christina Brown, Dr. Aniesha Mitchell (for Dr. Wood)
  4. Non-Voting Members Absent: Christy Samarkos, Dr. J. Luke Wood 
  5. Guests: None. 

III. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

It was moved and seconded to approve the agenda for April 17, 2023.

IV. PUBLIC COMMENT- None. 

V. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. Letter regarding Out of State and International Fee (Action)
    Shawki called a roll call vote to call for the delaying of the implementation of the Out of State and International fee rather than calling for the retraction of the fee. 

    Bartosh- Yes Grell- Yes  DeVega- Yes  Walker- No 
    Shaw - Abstain  Mekany-Yes  Rentto- Abstain 
    Mitchell (for Dr. Wood) - Abstain 

     

    The Out of State and International Student Fee letter was discussed and edited to establish the Board of Directors stance. with allowance for administrative edits. 

    It was moved and seconded to approve the Out of State letter and International Student Fee letter.

  1. President, Shawki Moore: April 19th will be the University House end of the year celebration at Adela de la Torre’s house. Please RSVP if you have not yet.The Aztec Achievement Awards will be held on April 27th. 
  2. Executive Vice President, Meena Alexander: No report. 
  3. Vice President of External Relations, Robson Winter: No report. 
  4. Vice President of Financial Affairs, Sophia Koch: No report. 
  5. Vice President of University Affairs, Sandy Mekany: The University Affairs Board/Mind over Matter, mental health event was very successful. 
  6. Executive Director, Christina Brown: No report.
