I.  CALL TO ORDER

A.S. President, Shawki Moore called the meeting to order at 3:34 p.m.

II.  ROLL CALL

  2. Voting Members Absent: Meena Alexander

  5. Visitors: None.

III.  APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

It was moved and seconded to approve the Board of Directors agenda with the consent item E. to be moved to the end of the meeting.

IV.  APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MINUTES

It was moved and seconded to approve the Board of Directors meeting minutes of 8/31/22.

V.  PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

VI.  UNIVERSITY REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

  1. Business and Financial Affairs Designee: We are two football games into using the new Snapdragon football stadium, we are still looking into ways to improve the operations at the stadium. Two students reported that they contracted E-coli because of this all water and food places on campus are being investigated but there are no leads yet. 
  2. University President’s Designee: No report.
  3. University Police Department Introductions: Chief Greg Murphy introduced the new social worker at the University Police Department, Irma Murphy, and spoke about the ways they plan to improve the response to mental health emergencies on campus. 

VII.  ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action): 
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda.

  3. Audited Financial Reports: Carlos Careaga (Time certain 4:15pm): There was a presentation that explained the Associated Students most recent financial audit and its findings, it came back as a clean audit. 
    It was moved and seconded to separate the 9/9 Audit Committee minutes from the General Consent Agenda.

    It was moved and seconded to approve the Audit Committee minutes of September 9, 2022.

  4. Selection of ASBOD Member on the ASJAC Vacancy Ad-Hoc Committee (Action)
    The ASBOD nominated Ava Walker as the primary member to serve on the ASJAC Vacancy Ad-Hoc Committee with Bianca Shaw to serve as a backup. 
    It was moved and seconded to approve Ava Walker (primary) and Bianca Shaw (alternate) on the Vacancy Ad-Hoc Committee.

IX.  BOARD OF DIRECTORS COMMITTEE REPORTS - None.

X.  EXECUTIVE REPORTS

  1. President - Shawki Moore reported on the following:
    1. Attended California State Student Association (CSSA) and CSUnity this past weekend in Long Beach and it was a great experience.
    2. Provided an update regarding the Graduate Student Health Insurance Program (GSHIP).
    3. Provided an update from the Campus Fee Advisory Committee (CFAC) and a referendum in relation to the SDSU campus at Imperial Valley.
  2. Executive Vice President - On behalf of Meena Alexander, Shawki  reported on the following:
    1. ‘Your Mental Health Matters’ applications will be open.
    2. The vacant positions for CLC and UC are due on Friday, September 16.  Please request an application via the A.S. website.
  3. Vice President of External Relations - Robson Winter reported on the following:
    1. We will be having a Rock the Vote campaign to promote the primary in November.
    2. There is a Constitution Day event in the Courtyard on September 14.
    3. Attended the CSSA Conference at CSU Long Beach.  Provided an update on the Graduate Initiative 2025.
  4. Vice President of Financial Affairs - Sophia Koch reported on the following: 
    1. Financial Affairs Committee (FAC) and Audit Committee will be going to the Mission Bay Aquatic Center on September 30.  
    2. The Aztecs Rock Hunger campaign will adjust due to economic inflation.
  5. Vice President of University Affairs - Sandy Mekany reported on the following:
    1. Working with Academic Affairs to help improve and promote EAB Navigate.
    2. Met with a student leader in the Interdisciplinary Studies in Three Departments (IS3D) to increase representation.
  6. Executive Director - Christina Brown reported on the following:
    1. There is an A,S, event on October 7 to celebrate A.S.’s 90th Anniversary.  Current Associated Students leaders are free. Please remember to RSVP. 
    2. The Graduate Student Association first meeting is tonight at 6 p.m. in the State Suite. 

XI.  REPORTS OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEMBERS

  1. Ava Grell: There are open sessions that students or community members can join in order to get food pantry volunteer certification, this will enable people to volunteer in the food pantry. 
  2. Bianca Shaw: Provided an update on the National Panhellenic Council (NPHC) Homecoming.  They have finalized Dang Bros Pizza to be a food vendor for the yard show and are still searching for more vendors. The NPHC Yard Show will be on November 4 at 7 p.m. at the Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre.
