I.  CALL TO ORDER

A.S. President, Shawki Moore, called the meeting to order at 3:04 p.m.

II.  ROLL CALL

III.  APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

It was moved and seconded to approve the A.S. Board of Directors meeting agenda for July 7, 2022.

IV.  APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MINUTES

It was moved and seconded to approve the previous minutes of June 1, 2022.

V.  PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

VI.  PRESENTATIONS AND UNIVERSITY REPORTS

  1. Business and Financial Affairs Designee: No report.
  2. University President’s Designee:  Dr. Aniesha Mitchell reported on behalf of Dr. J. Luke Wood:
    1. There is an increase in COVID cases and are monitoring.
    2. There are updates to the Student Affairs and Campus Diversity structure which I will provide updates at the next meeting.
    3. Dr. Andrea Dooley and Dr. Radhika Seshan has left the University.
  3. Chief of Police Candidate Meet and Greet - Time Certain 3:30 p.m.
    Associate Vice President Joshua Mays introduced Greg Murphy, a candidate for the SDSU Chief of Police position at San Diego State University.  

VII.  ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATIN

  1. General Consent Agenda (Action)
    It was moved and seconded to approve the General Consent Agenda, which includes summer Aztec Student Union Board minutes.

  2. General Consent Report (Information) - None.
  3. Fall COVID-19 Plan - Time Certain 4 p.m. - Dr. Libby Skiles, Executive Director, Student Health Services
    Dr. Libby Skiles provided an update regarding the COVID-19 for the upcoming fall semester to include not mandating mask wearing, surveillance testing that is no longer required, no programming restrictions, updates regarding isolation and quarantine, and the free testing machines.  
  4. Graduate Student Health Insurance Program (GSHIP) and TA Benefits Discussion (Information)
    Shawki provided updates on the GSHIP Program and the TA Benefits.  With the GSHIP program to be implemented soon, communication to the graduate students has not been sent out.  There is information that the TAs have a reduced working hours that affects their benefits.
  5. Title IX Discussion (Information)
    Jessica Rentto, Senior Associate Vice President of Business and Financial Affairs, provided an update surrounding the news article that was published by the Los Angeles Times.

IX.  BOARD OF DIRECTORS COMMITTEE REPORTS - NONE.

X.  EXECUTIVE REPORTS

  1. President - Shawki Moore reported on the following:
    1. Working with the A.S. VPs to establish their goals and vision for the year.
    2. Speaking at the New Student Orientations to all first-year students.
    3. Will speak at the Pride Flag Raising Ceremony.
    4. Attended the CSU Juneteenth celebration.
    5. Austin Barber is the 22/23 A.S. Chief of Staff and Beth Bridges is the A.S. Shared Governance Assistant.
    6. Will be conducting A.S. Chief Justice interviews.
    7. Announced BOD ‘Pair Ups’ with executive officers.
  2. Executive Vice President - Meena Alexander reported on the following:
    1. Working on the A.S. table at all the New Student Orientations.
    2. Please sign up to the table to fulfill your tabling requirement for the fall semester.  
    3. Please remember to RSVP for the Fall Retreat.
    4. Planning the A.S. Expo.
    5. Working on the Homecoming theme.
  3. Vice President of External Relations - Robson Winter reported on the following:
    1. Working on the A.S. Calendar that will consist of a QR code that students can scan to see all the A.S. events happening during the month.
    2. Creating the Welcome Back video.
    3. Collaborating with Student Life and Leadership regarding Constitution Day.
    4. Sat on the Vice President of Research & Innovation interview panel.
    5. Will attend the California State Student Association (CSSA) Plenary this weekend virtually.
    6. The Rock the Vote (RTV) Leadership Team applications are open and due on 7/15.
  4. Vice President of Financial Affairs - Sophia Koch reported on the following:
    1. Planning the Aztecs Rock Hunger annual initiative and food drive. The dates of ARH are 10/14 through 11/6.  
    2. Conducting interviews for the ARH Leadership Team.  
  5. Vice President of University Affairs - Sandy Mekany reported on the following:
    1. Have been meeting with College Council Presidents and Representatives.
    2. Academic Affairs Committee meetings are scheduled on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.  in the Presidential Suite.
    3. University Affairs Board are scheduled to meet on Thursdays from 2-3 p.m. 
    4. Working on Your Voice Matters initiative.
  6. Executive Director - Christina Brown reported on the following:
    1. Excited to see everyone in-person at the August 10 meeting.  There will be a fiduciary training session.
    2. Working with the A.S. executive officers with building their goals/vision.
    3. Will be scheduling one-on-one meetings with the A.S. Board of Directors student-at-larges.  
    4. Please attend the San Diego Pride Parade on Saturday, 7/16.
    5. Save the date for October 7 where we are celebrating the 90th anniversary of Associated Students, Grand Opening of the Aztec Recreation Center, and the 25th anniversary of the Viejas Arena.

XI.  REPORTS OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS

  1. Brandon Bartosh reported that he is focusing on internal A.S. in terms of community, retention, and showing care.
  2. Grace deVega reported that she is working to have the CSU declare National Election Day a campus-wide holiday.

XII.  ANNOUNCEMENTS - None.
