AS Alumni Chapter
It has been an exciting year! The Associated Students Alumni Chapter is even closer to becoming a reality! In February, a group of AS alums and soon-to-be alums got together to discuss an action plan for getting the chapter off the ground.
Chris Doolittle, PSFA Rep. 2000, was encouraged to be the leader, who will be responsible for ensuring that the chapter gets registered
with the SDSU Alumni Association. The group followed that initial meeting-up with a meeting dedicated to reviewing the AS Alumni chapter
bylaws in order to decide what roles need to be filled immediately and what the next step is going to be.The group is planning on having an inaugural
event this summer, which they hope will generate more interest and buzz.
All those in the committee are from the 2000’s. They would truly appreciate
insight, ideas and involvement from AS alums from all decades. If you are interested in serving on this committee in order to get the chapter
started or to help plan the inaugural event, please contact Chris Doolittle atchris@sticktape.com.

1990s
R. Brix Lloyd, Arts & Letters Representative (’92-’94), is living in Donegal, Ireland with his wife and three kids. He is still active in politics, as he is running three candidates for the local elections. Chances are good they will get in as he put them in last time!
Larry Tran, Greek Liaison (’97-’98) has been employed with the City of Chula Vista since 2002, working in the Division of Development Planning. Over the past few years, he has done some world traveling on an annual basis. Currently, he is preparing for an upcoming trip to the Middle East for three weeks. His goal is to travel to a different country every year.
2000s
Kerk Kee, President’s Cabinet (’03-’05) is doctoral student in Organizational Communication at the University of Texas at Austin (UT). He currently holds a master’s degree in Communication, a master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Matt Keipper, Vice President of Finance (’05-’06) and President (’06-’07) recently completed the Pasadena Triathlon in 65 minutes and the Tritonman Triathlon in 90 minutes. Over spring break, he cycled from San Francisco to San Luis Obispo.

Dan R. Cornthwaite
Yet another year is quickly drawing to a close. What a year it’s been! Student leaders succeeded in passing a student
fee referendum raising the general activities fee for the first time since 1992. The fee increase will provide funds for “green” programming
and facility upgrades; new student legal services; scholarships for student studying abroad; increased programming for CASE programs and funding for
an Aztec Culture Project.
Student body elections have just concluded and current AS President James Poet has been re-elected to a second term,
becoming the first two-term AS President in more than 35 years!
James has provided exceptional leadership this year and we look forward to working
with him in the year ahead. Greetings to you and your family from your AS family! |
