Aztecs Rocked Hunger
The goal for this year’s Aztecs Rock Hunger food drive was to raise 300,000 pounds of food. That goal was shattered when Jim Floros, CEO of the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, announced that SDSU raised 414,489 pounds of food. That is the highest amount in the food drive’s history. The drive also had the highest amount of campus participation ever.
This year, 10 percent of all monetary donations to Aztecs Rock Hunger was given to SDSU's Economic Response Team (ECRT). $6,800 will stay on campus, to help SDSU students who may be facing their own food insecurities. To find out more about ECRT, and the services they provide, visit the ECRT website. Thank you to all who donated!

Zahn Winners
Fourth Annual Zahn Challenge
On December 20th, Brett Kehler, Aztec Recreation’s Fitness, Wellness & Instructional Class Coordinator and Mario Scade, both SDSU alumni, were winners in the Fourth Annual Zahn Challenge. SDSU’s Zahn Innovation Center, which helps students, faculty, staff and alumni launch startups from early-stage concepts, holds a yearly challenge to identify and reward the most promising ideas for new businesses. Eight alumni teams signed up, representing entrepreneurial ideas ranging from a mobile app to a clothing company. Each group pitched its idea to a panel of judges and Kehler’s and Scade’s “Aire Fitness” came out on top.
Their concept, “Aire Fitness,” turns storage containers into mobile fitness studios that promote health and fitness by creating sustainable and innovative outdoor fitness environments. One of the team’s goals is to donate ten percent of its profits to build studios to be donated to schools and non-profit organizations that promote fitness and healthy eating habits to combat childhood obesity.
Congratulations to Brett and Mario.
