A.S. Elections
Voting begins at 8:00am on March 16 and runs through 7:00pm on March 19. Simply log in to the SDSU WebPortal to cast your vote. This year’s goal is a 20% voter turnout. As you prepare to make these important decisions, visit the A.S. website (beginning March 6) to review the candidate statements and learn more about their plans. Also, attend the candidate debates to learn more about their position on the important issues facing A.S. and SDSU.

GreenFest Highlights
March 1-5
GreenFest, presented by SDSU's Associated Students and SDSU's Enviro-Business Society, is a week of events, which encourages, celebrates, and advocates for sustainability, Aztec Pride, and diversity. The purpose of GreenFest is to engage the campus community through social and interactive programs in an effort to educate them on the important of living a sustainable lifestyle and to promote sustainable practices.
Wednesday, March 4:
Green Lunch Bag Series
12pm, Montezuma Hall, Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union
ASUB has teamed up with the Sustainability/Green Love Commission to continue the Green Lunch Bag Series during GreenFest week! This event will feature Ron Finley, “Renegade Gardener.” Ron will share his belief that gardens built in communities have blossomed into a quest to change how we eat. Learn how YOU can be the change. A light organic lunch will be provided. Co-sponsored by College of Health and Human Services and Headstrong.

GreenFest Concert
7pm, doors open at 6:30pm, Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre
Celebrate the ending of GreenFest Week by dancing with your friends at the Concert! Featuring Chance the Rapper, Sammy Adams and the SDSU Student Band, The Feds! Cheer on the winning Student Competition Team and learn about upcoming GreenFest activities for the rest of the semester!

What is your name and title?
Akeyla Anne Basto, Aztec Lanes and Games Attendant
Which A.S. department do you work in? Describe your job in 25 words or less.
I work for Aztec Lanes. As an Aztec lanes attendant it is my responsibility to manage equipment (shoes, paddles, billiards), point of sale (cash handling), and phone calls behind the desk. It is my job to ensure customers leave happy with their experience here at Aztec Lanes.
How many years have you worked for A.S.?
A little over a year. 1 year and 2 months to be exact.
What was the last movie you saw? Thumbs up or thumbs down?
The last movie I saw was “John Wick.” If I can put a million thumbs up, I would!
What is your favorite dessert?
I love Thrifty’s rocky road ice cream because it’s cheap and tastes great! Rain or shine I’ll always eat ice cream.
What is your favorite ride at an amusement park?
My favorite ride is X2 at six flags Magic Mountain because I always psych myself out to not go, but then when I go I feel like I accomplished something and overcame a fear. It’s exhilarating!
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be a Nurse Practitioner, specializing in geriatrics care. I fell in love with this profession because the elder know best. I always learn something new from them and they teach me to appreciate the little things in life.
What type of pets do you have and what are their names?
I have 2 dogs and a pet bird! I have a Siberian Husky, his name is Kobe. I have a long-hired Chihuahua, his name is Brutus. I have a pet bird, his name is Olaf.
What three things are always in your refrigerator?
I always have chicken, egg whites, and water! I have these three things are always in my fridge because they are staple foods to my bikini competitor diet.
If you could go back or forward in time, where would you go?
I would go to the last day I saw my grandmother before she passed away because I never got the chance to say goodbye.

That I like to bowl competitively.
What was or is your favorite subject in school?
I really like Anatomy/Physiology because then everything that goes on in my body makes sense. For example, if I start to have an allergic reaction, I know exactly why a certain part of my body begins to inflame.
If you could have a superhero power what would it be?
It would be teleportation because I drive back and forth to Long Beach and San Diego EVERY weekend to visit my parents, but I hate driving. So, teleportation would be really helpful with that.
If you could be any color in a box of Crayola Crayons, what color would you be?
I would be “Cerulean” because it reminds me of the ocean and that’s really relaxing.
What is your favorite candy?
I love all kinds of chocolate! No specific reason why, it just tastes good.

Homemade Peanut Butter Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups roasted shelled, unsalted peanuts
- 1 tablespoon peanut oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional for low salt diets)
Preparation Directions:
- Place peanuts, oil, and salt into a blender or food processor.
- Blend well, until desired texture is reached.
- Place peanut butter in airtight container.
- For crunchy peanut butter, add 1/4 cup of peanuts and blend again, but, for just a short burst or two.
