College Area Community Garden

The College Area Community Garden is a community-based organic garden/urban farm made up of raised bed garden plots. A large variety of vegetables, fruits and herbs — everything from artichokes to zucchini — all thrive in the garden, which is located next to the SDSU Children's Center. Many community members, SDSU students, faculty and staff have started their own gardens, event the chefs at Aztec Shops have created their very own herb garden. The raised beds are available in two sizes: 16 sq. ft. (4' x 4') and 32 sq. ft. (4' x 8'), both at very reasonable monthly fees.

In partnership with local experts, the garden sponsors educational workshops and classes on organic farming practices, planet-friendly agricultural methods and water-wise collection and irrigation methods. The workshops and classes promote healthy soils, water, urban gardening, food crops and ecosystems. The garden coordinates its efforts with other local and regional community gardens as well as local, state and national organizations and government agencies.

Associated Students, Green Love and the SDSU Children's Center are all sponsors of the garden, which is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. To find out more or to sign up and start your own garden, visit collegeareagarden.org
