Donate to Aztecs Rock Hunger!
Aztecs Rock Hunger
Aztecs Rock Hunger (ARH) is happening now through Nov. 14! San Diego State University’s annual Aztecs Rock Hunger (ARH) campaign led by A.S. is here for another year with the goal of raising as much food and monetary donations as possible for the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, A.S. Food Pantry and the SDSU Economic Crisis and Response Team.
Since 2010, Aztecs Rock Hunger has raised nearly 4 million pounds of food. This year, Aztecs Rock Hunger is looking to raise 619,000 pounds of food to represent the 619 area code that covers most of San Diego.
A $1 donation to the campaign equals six pounds of food.
Aztecs Rock Hunger comes at a crucial time as the food bank continues to serve more people than ever. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank served 350,000 visitors monthly. Now, that number has skyrocketed to 600,000 visitors a month.
How Does Aztecs Rock Hunger Help SDSU students?
A portion of the amount raised goes back into the A.S. Food Pantry, a free service for all SDSU students facing food insecurity. The food pantry is open three days a week and has distributed almost 400,000 pounds of food since 2016. In addition, 20% of the monetary donations to the campaign go to the SDSU Economic Crisis and Response Team (ECRT), which supports students experiencing immediate food, housing or unforeseen financial crises.

In my current position, four months, but I’ve been with A.S. in various positions since I started as a student employee in 2013.
- What do you like most about working for A.S.?

-
"Black Widow," thumbs up.

-
I would first pay off my student loans and my family’s student loans. I think I’d also go back to school. Then, I would design and build my dream home from scratch.
- What is your favorite dessert?
-
Creme brulee. It brings back a wonderful memory of being on a family vacation with my parents and brother. We ordered a dessert to share at this very nice Disneyland restaurant and I was so amazed with the sugar artistry on the plate. I couldn’t believe that it was all edible and the dessert hidden underneath was one of the best things I’d ever tasted.
- If you had one free hour each day, how would you use it?
-
I would spend the extra time learning new skills. I feel like I have so many interests, but not enough time to learn or practice a new hobby.

- If you could be any color in a box of Crayola Crayons, what color would you be?
-
Orange, it’s one of my favorite colors. It’s bright, fun and associated with some of my favorite things like fall and pumpkins!
