The American Medical Student Association is the oldest and largest independent association of physicians-in-training in the United States. AMSA SDSU is the pre-medical chapter at San Diego State University offering its members various opportunities within the pre-health community. Some of the opportunities include, but are not limited to, volunteering with the local organizations, guest speaker panels, professional development workshops, medical school road trips, and much more. Through our organization, you will meet and potentially gain lifelong friends to accompany you through the long and arduous journey of medicine!

We cultivate a fun and engaging community and hope to promote the well-being and growth of our members in an inclusive environment. Requirements: Open to all students, regardless of major or background. Club dues: $45 per semester.
The SDSU Cyber Defense Team teaches members how to ethically hack and defend against hacking. During club meetings, members can enjoy some pizza, make new friends, and learn how to use industry-standard cyber security tools. Many members used the skills and social network they obtained to acquire cyber security jobs that pay roughly six figures right out of SDSU. Additionally, the club invites industry professionals to share their experiences and sets up field trips to visit cyber security departments (e.g. AT&T, FBI). We participate in major hacking competitions, including CCDC, NCL, and CPTC, all of which can reward members with large cash prizes or job opportunities.

Undergraduate Applicants:
- Be enrolled as a major or minor in a psychology program (or a program psychological in nature); pre-major status does not qualify
- Have completed at least 3 semesters (or equivalent) of college courses
- Have completed at least 9 units of psychology courses at SDSU; transfer students are not eligible in their first semester at SDSU
- Have earned an overall GPA that is in the top 35% of their class in general scholarship (minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale)
- Have a minimum 3.0 GPA in psychology courses
Graduate Student Applicants:
- Be enrolled in a psychology graduate program
- Have completed at least one full semester of graduate coursework
- Have an overall GPA of at least 3.00 in all graduate courses, including psychology courses
Transfer Applicants:
- Follow the same requirements as the undergraduate student applicant
- Transfer student applicants who are already members of Psi Chi contact the Psi Chi faculty advisor at the new institution to complete an online transfer membership form
Psi Chi is an international honor society whose purpose shall be to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology. The mission of Psi Chi is to produce a well-educated, ethical, and socially responsible member committed to contributing to the science and profession of psychology and to society in general.

Requirements: Anyone can join! You do not need to be a psychology major or minor, nor do you have to attend weekly meetings if they conflict with your schedule.
Psychology Club is an amazing way to get involved in the Psychology Department at SDSU and to meet fellow peers who also have an interest in psychology. We provide opportunities for members to attend lectures about various fields and careers in psychology, social events, and philanthropic events in the college area. An “active” member is someone who meets the below requirements in a one semester time span. If you meet the criteria for one semester, you are eligible to run for certain officer positions, and if you are active for two semesters, you are eligible for a free cord for graduation. If you do not reach the number of attended events, you are still able to purchase a cord at the end of the year. To achieve an active status in the psychology club, you must earn one point (*changed due to COVID-19 circumstances) in each of the four categories in the time span of one semester. Points do not roll over, each semester you will start fresh!

SDSU MEDLIFE strives to make a difference in both the global community, as well as the local San Diego community. We participate in mobile clinics in South America and Central America, organize global health awareness events, raise money for the International MEDLIFE fund, and volunteer throughout San Diego and Mexico to empower people to live healthier lives. Our main goals include educating the community about current global healthcare needs and developing our members into compassionate and dedicated individuals. We are a chapter of the international nonprofit, MEDLIFE (Medicine, Education, and Development for Low-Income Families Everywhere). We are dedicated to partnering with low-income communities to improve their access to medicine, education, and community development initiatives. MEDLIFE achieves this mission through Volunteer Trips, the MEDLIFE Project Fund, and student empowerment.

The SDSU SIAM student chapter aims to foster the development of applied mathematics and computational methodologies needed in various application areas. This organization gathers students across many disciplines to build cooperation between applied mathematics and the broad worlds of science and technology. The goal of this organization is to discuss real world problems in an interdisciplinary fashion, and to promote collaborative research that will lead to effective new mathematical and computational methods and techniques for science, engineering, industry, and society. Becoming a member of the SIAM chapter at SDSU will also allow students to be connected with the national professional organization, including access to SIAM research journals and textbooks, as well as opportunities to attend and present at conferences.
