Recognized Student Organizations Under PSFA


Asian American Journalists Association

The Asian American Journalists Association provides a means of association and support among Asian American and Pacific Islander aspiring journalists. The association connects Asian American and Pacific Islander students with the national organization and regional chapters of AAJA, encouraging professional and personal development. In addition, AAJA provides the Asian American and Pacific Islander community at SDSU an awareness of news media and an understanding of how to gain fair access through resources offered by AAJA.


Aztec Music Group

Aztec Music Group acts as the official independent SDSU student music collective that provides entertainment, artist development/exposure, performance opportunities and music industry knowledge to the San Diego State University community.


California Music Educators Association

The California Music Educators Association goal is to teach collegiate members to reach the highest professional standards to become a well-rounded future educator and for collegiate students from all sections of CMEA to meet and work with one another to uphold CMEA’s vision, values and mission.


Criminal Justice Student Association

The Criminal Justice Student Association sets out to establish relationships among students with similar interests in the Criminal Justice field and support/promote the study and administration of the criminal justice system. This includes a familiarization with careers in criminal justice, developing and promoting relationships between students and professionals in criminal justice and fostering a positive relationship with the community.


Foodies

The purpose of Foodies is to provide a friendly environment for interested students to network with industry professionals and fellow students to help their future success, as well as learn more about the restaurant industry.


Jewelry Student Co-Op

The Jewelry Student Co-Op serves as a creative collective focused on advancement of metalworking techniques and continuing the practice of instruction of old methods.


Lodging Management Student Association

The purpose of the Lodging Management Student Association organization is to provide a platform to bridge education and the professional lodging industry.


Meetings and Events Student Association

The Meetings and Events Student Association provides opportunities for personal and professional development within the events industry in preparation for careers as meeting and event professionals.


Musical Theatre Club

The purpose of the Musical Theatre Club is to develop the next group of triple-threat performers in the SDSU community by providing a safe, professional space for exploring theatrical creativity and developing individual musical artistry. Our club is the place to take risks and to grow.


National Association of Black Journalists

The National Association of Black Journalists provides a space where aspiring Black journalists can feel supported, affirmed and heard. Our mission is to provide valuable networking opportunities to assist members as they navigate their journalism career.


Photography Club

The purpose of the Photography Club is to create a supportive community that promotes passion, creativity and knowledge through photography and fosters growth in technical skills and artistic vision to photographers of all levels of experience.


Providing Opportunities for Restorative Community Healing (PORCH)

Providing Opportunities for Restorative Community Healing (PORCH) is an academic and professional organization for students interested in restorative practices. PORCH welcomes other students, faculty and community members, especially those with lived experiences to share their stories.


Public Relations Student Society of America

The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is a nationally recognized pre-professional organization founded by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) in 1968. PRSSA cultivates a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and professional public relations practitioners.


Rec & Tourism Student Association

The Rec & Tourism Student Association creates opportunities for Recreation & Tourism Management students to get involved on campus, network with professionals, develop career goal, and to extend the knowledge of the Recreation and Tourism Management as a major to more students.


SDSU National Society of Minorities in Hospitality

The National Society of Minorities in Hospitality is a non-profit, student-run organization that strives to provide students with the opportunity to build relationships, enhance professional development and understand the importance of diversity in the workplace. We will also form strong relationships with selected high schools to foster the importance of education, professional behaviors and the opportunities available within the hospitality industry.


SDSU SCREAM

SDSU SCREAM sets out to provide opportunities, connections, engagement and memories within the theme park, live events and attractions industries.


Speech and Debate

The purpose of the SDSU Speech and Debate Team is to compete nationally in a variety of debate styles and individual and group events. We offer individual events in limited preparation, public address and interpretation genres, as well as team and individual debate. The secondary purpose of our team is to increase public speaking knowledge, opportunity and personal enrichment for SDSU students and the community.
