A is for Art
A is for Art
16TH ANNIVERSARY
A is for Art, a program of the SDSU Children's Center, showcases the amazing potential for creative expression by children between 6 months and 5 years of age. Each year, A is for Art is held to raise awareness, and funds, to promote art education at the Children’s Center. Each classroom selects an artist living and working in the United States to study and then uses that artist's painting techniques and style to create their own collaborative masterpiece.
To celebrate A is for Art’s 16th Anniversary, we will be hosting an Art Exhibition and Auction!
The A is for Art Exhibition, an adult-only event that is open to the public, will be on March 7, at the Southwestern Yacht Club. For a small donation of $10, you can enjoy appetizers, beer, wine, and participate in the live auction of children’s art and opportunity basket drawings.

Read Across America
AT THE CHILDREN’S CENTER
Read Across America is the nation’s largest reading celebration, with more than 45 million students, parents, educators and others participating every year. Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss.
The Children’s Center is excited to be celebrating again this year. On Monday, March 2, teachers, volunteers and parents will be sharing their favorite books, as well as Dr. Seuss books, with the children both inside and outside the classrooms. If you would like to read a book to the children (contact the Center’s front desk staff), please come join us. We would love to have your support!

15 Questions
Nathan Wolf
- What is your name and title?
Nathan Wolf – Operations Coordinator, Aztec Recreation
- Which A.S. department do you work in?
Aztec Recreation. I oversee daily operations, risk management, and scheduling/event planning for the ARC, ARC Express, Racquetball Courts, Recreation Field and ENS Field.
- How long have you worked for A.S.?
Just shy of two years!
- If you won $5 million what would you do with it?
If I won $5 million the first thing I would do is travel. There are a number of countries and cities around the world that I have yet to visit, and am really itching to go see. I would also set aside a good portion to invest and another portion to take care of my family.
- What is your favorite dessert?
Homemade Apple Pie. My grandma would babysit my brother and me when we were younger and would bake British Jam Tarts and Homemade Apple Pie. Nothing was better than her homemade pies.
- What city would you most like to visit or visit again?
Next up on my list is London. My grandma was one of nine and the only one to move away from England to the United States after World War II. I have never been to England to visit family that still live there and would love to go and catch an English Premier League Match.
- If you had one free hour each day, how would you use it?
If I had one free hour a day I would use it to get outside and go watch a sunset or go for a hike and just be outdoors.
- What type of pets do you have and what are their names?
I have an Australian Shepard/Lab mix (and some other things we are unsure of) named Duke!
- Do you like to cook and what is your specialty?
I love to cook! Growing up my mom would cook 5-6 days a week and taught me how to cook at a young age (even though I did not always love helping). Once I lived on my own I realized how amazing she was for showing me everything I know about cooking. Now I find it relaxing and a form of stress relief. One recipe I have mastered is her Thai Red Curry with Chicken and made it my own specialty.
- What is your perfect breakfast?
Fresh brewed coffee (with a splash of vanilla almond milk) and eggs benedict.
- If you could go back or forward in time, where would you go?
I would go into the future to see how far technology and science have advanced. I would be curious to see how the medicine and technology we use today have changed and become more advanced.
- “Most people don’t know that I like to…
…Write! I enjoy journaling and when I am stuck or struggling with something, writing helps me clear my head and figure out how I want to approach different situations.”
- What does your perfect burger have on it?
Bacon and Brie, who doesn’t love cheese and bacon?
- What’s the best concert you’ve been to and why was it so good?
Frank Ocean at FYF Fest in Los Angeles. He is one of my favorite artists and, prior to being named a headliner at Coachella this year, has only played at a handful of festivals/concerts. Being able to see him in 2017 was hands down the best performance I’ve ever seen.
- If you could have a superhero power what would it be?
That’s easy, flying! Scotts Cheap Flights, Sky Scanner and Hopper are great, but the money I could save and the places I could see with the ability to fly for free would be incredible.
