Food Recovery Network unites students on college campuses to fight food waste and hunger by recovering perishable food that would otherwise go to waste from their campuses and communities and donating it to people in need.

The Graduate Social Work Association (GSWA) interfaces between the student body, the administration and faculty of the School of Social Work. The GSWA has the mission of supporting graduate social work students in their academic and professional achievements.

Our Mission is to promote positive self-esteem and confidence by raising awareness and providing programming for students on nutrition, physical and overall wellness. We provide a place for individuals to create relationships and experience a sense of community, and a group for individuals who interested in learning about nutrition, physical health, and wellness as well as helping others. We fundraise and donate money to non-profit organizations related to nutrition, physical activity, and wellness. We promote ethical leadership and academic achievement and cultivate civic responsibility.

MEDLIFE SDSU is oriented towards raising awareness and activism about heath care and community development locally and internationally. Our mission is to help families achieve greater freedom from the constraints of poverty, empowering them to live healthier lives. We aim to achieve this goal through partnering with local partners in poor communities working to improve their access to MEDs: Medicine, Education and community Development. MEDLIFE believes access to quality health care is a basic human right. To this end, we commit our time, resources, knowledge and hope to bring Medicine, Education and Development to Low Income Families Everywhere.

Public Health Initiative

Public Health Initiative is a student service organization dedicated to preventing, promoting, and protecting the working poor communities in Ensenada, Mexico. Our goal is to work with locals in the community to perform needs assessments, create and prepare a public health initiative, and implement it (with the help of community leaders) in a renewable and sustainable way that will have a long lasting effect.

The School of Social Work Social Action Committee (SAC) at SDSU educates the university community about political and social issues that are relevant to the social work profession. It provides a forum for discussion of topics of concern, and empowers students to work toward social justice. Some of the committee's activities have included: voter registration drives, fund raising for victims of Hurricane Katrina, a forum on the use of Proposition 63 funds, a presentation about initiatives on the November 2006 ballot, working at the Fiesta del Sol street fair (civic participation pavilion) and NASW California's Legislative Lobby Days.
